You'd have to think they would struggle to fit much else under the cap with Cloke signed up... anyone know who remains to be signed there? Wellingham is one, obviously.
Other out of contract Magpies include Sharrod Wellingham, Andrew Krakouer, Brent Macaffer and Tyson Goldsack, with a decision yet to be made on the future of veteran Ben Johnson.

Harsh. He's had two bad years with injury plaguing him. Works as hard as any player and really takes being out of form hard. If he can't get his zip back it will be a massive shame as he's been a loyal servant to the club for a long time and in his prime was an absolute jet.

The Age are reporting we have put a 3 year deal to Wellingham on more than Collingwood. Neeld apparently very interested.

Neeld worked very closely with Welly's development, so he would know.

I didn't rate Wellingham, until the last 18 months, he has been great and is still young.

I dont think he would be a cultural fit with the Dees players. Seems like a bit of a Mr. Cool high roller and going to a bottom of the ladder club will not sit well with his ego. I heard a caller on SEN leak a rumour he wants to go to Hawthorn to 1. Play with his best mate Buddy and 2. Play in another high profile side that can win premierships in the next 5 years.

I dont know what other B grade mids Neeld could target if we dont get him, but we certainly need some.

Let's hope this has a 'Josh Kennedy to Sydney' happy ending to it.

And not have a 'Shane Woewodin to Collingwood' type of ending to it... ;)

Take from this what you will, but I have heard from a pretty good source that Sharrod Wellingham is about a 90% chance to come to the Dees next year, loves Neeld and wants more $$$ / more opportunity. I would love him at the dees, he has pace and can take a grab and would easily be in our best 2 or 3 mids with only Jones being higher.

On another note and probably not that relevant, but Woewodin to the Pies wasn't the disaster move from Collingwood most people on here think. He played and contributed well in 2 grand finals and in the early 00's he was one of their better players in a very strong side. Sure he slowed down a lot when he lost his speed, but to think he was a complete failure at Collingwood is simply wrong.

Everyone seems to have such fantastic sources.

Tomato, Mustard, Smoky BBQ, Garlic and Aioli... all terrific sauces, and people draw on them in these threads all the time mate. Get used to it, happens at the same time every year!

All we ask from our players is that they GO when it is their turn. You know what I mean by 'go'? Show courage and put yourself in potential danger to win the ball. Aaron Davey does not and will not ever go when it is his turn. He and his ridiculous pay packet can G&GF.

Especially that last one ... derishhhusssss

I believe it may have come from here:
Wellingham has been offered a new contract but Melbourne is believed to be prepared to offer superior terms for a three-year deal, with Mark Neeld, who coached Wellingham when midfield coach at Collingwood, interested in luring the quick midfielder.

Key word there is prepared. The other poster said we had put the offer to Wellingham but this just says we are prepared to offer superior terms and money. Plus there are no quotes. We'll wait and see.

We are "prepared" to put forward a better offer because we are not allowed to put a formal offer in front of him until the free agency window opens.

Exactly, which means we haven't put an offer forward... like I said.

His manager has said its between WC, Freo and Collingwood. Looks like we will be struggling this free agency period.
