Western Bulldogs and their partnership with Ballarat a success

Roosters are an absolute rabble atm, hope that doesn't end up effecting us.

Nah it won't. There were question marks over them last year as well, I think the govt funding was totally independant of the Roosters and the arrangement they have with Eureka Stadium.
You are totally right. The City Council effectively took over the Social Club component in order to ensure that the whole stadium and facilities would be available on major events. The North Ballarat Sports Club were not giving that guarantee. What the Ballarat City Council have done has been completely endorsed by the AFL, the VFL, the Ballarat Football League, the new CEO of the North Ballarat Roosters and local media. The only ones screaming are those on the political opposite side of the spectrum on Council and some remaining members of the Board.

It has actually been a good move that will reduce overall running costs for the North Ballarat Roosters and ensure that the whole venue runs as one entity.

Taken Wednesday, three more frame sections yet to go into place.

Isn't it due for completion by April sometime? Surely they won't play VFL there with a construction zone that size still in place.

The first VFL game isnt scheduled there until mid-May. The Roosters are playing their first four games away. The ground isn't due for completion and full hand over until late May.

Honestly didn't check fixtures, just assumed. Oops. First TAC Cup game on May 14, Poor Rebels copped a fair whack with their early season fixture. Interesting. Think i'm gonna add the Ballarat add-on this week. Wonder how close to maxed out it is.

Absolutely no games on the ground until mid-May, by then they will be doing all of the final touches (Installing seats, painting, fitting out media and VIP rooms, laying asphalt, fixing fences and installing new ticket booths etc.). I expect that by that stage the new eastern stand and the members stand will be accessible, but the whole furst stage will be ready by mid-June. That won't be a bad effort really considering that the first sod was turned to construct the new stands in late July last year.

This link takes you to a really cool panoramic sweep of the ground as at yesterday by a guy working on the site. Just open the link and scan and zoom anywhere:

Are you sure that is Ballarat?, the sun is shining and I see some Blue sky. Not convinced!!!
February and March are the absolute best months of the year for weather in Ballarat when the temperatures average in the mid to high twenties and there's usually little or no rain, it will be perfect next year for pre-season AFL and AWFL games.

Bulldogs to train at Eureka Stadium tomorrow between 10.00 am to 11.30 am, to be followed by a series of school visits.

Below: The view from where the new 50 sqm video scoreboard will be installed from later this month.

Notice in this image that they have now modified the shape of the oval from having the flat ends behind the goal posts to make it a true oval shape and extend the space behind the goals. It will create a more consistent line for the seats when eventually the grandstands are extended around the south boundary.

Not Ballarat but they're training in Horsham on Tuesday as well. Gonna try and sneak there for a peek. A Bulldogs Ballarat supporters function is also planned for Monday night for anyone else up this way.
