I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Nobody loves the Fremantle Dockers

Not even their own supporters who only follow them because of that weird persecution complex you all have

Were only formed to be a drag on the eagles which is why your emblem is an anchor.

So you are telling me the AFL formed the dockers so the Dockers can somehow drag your eagles down to the dockers level with the Rest of the Crazy people?

Well there are a few Victorian sides I would be more than happy to be dragged down to te dockers level this season. lol

Saying that, I hope the dockers get a soft draw like the Crows in 2012. Jump the centrelink line as they say.

But this is the dockers and you know as well as I do, the dockers future is bright... As bright as dog poo. lol

At least you people have pick 1. Take Harley Reid if you want. Or Let some random club offer a couple of 1st rounders this year and a 2024 1st rounder as well. 3 picks to get good kids.

About that saying of throwing eggs in a basket....

Throwing all our eggs in one basket would be if we were North, trading picks 2 & 3 for 1.

WCE don't need to do anything.

Omg it just dawned on me Reid is coming to us. I'm now more comfortable as I've ever been.

1. If mckay goes norf receive 3.
Then Curtin is 100% off the table since they need to replenish a KPD and they are threating Curtin.

2. There has been 0 rumours of us being content with mckener as a trade down pick. Always been linked to Curtin.

3. Melb out of the equation. Since we need to go to the draft day with assumption of Curtin heading to norf.

The only viable option:
Hence that leaves north considering pick 2 + 16 for Reid. The issue with that is we would laugh it out of the room. And also norf still have a KPD problem. Also norf may need to give up 16 for Sanders?

If North get 3 for McKay, if they really want Sanders, they may have to use that pick if AFL don’t give them a nga free hit.
McKercher could be there at 4 so we try and get Gold Coasts pick then end up with Reid and McKercher.

If North do that trade they will still miss out on Curtin as we would take him, which brings us back to your first point.

Sliding Doors

Cleveland Cavaliers Trade #1 and the rights to draft LeBron James to Detroit Pistons for Darko Milicic, 1st round pick Carlos Delfino and dynamic 2nd year 6-8 small forward Tremaine Fowlkes

Who says no!?!

Quantity over quality right?

Ried is the next markelle fultz or kwame brown

If North get pick 3 I’d say any deal for pick 1 is off. We’d only want Curtin in return so that rules Melbourne out unless they can find a way to sort a 3 team trade to get us pick 2 (which I can’t see where they’d find the currency to satisfy both us and North).

So that leaves North, and they will have zero incentive to trade up unless we accept a s**t deal like 2 and 16 (in which case we might as well fold). McKercher and Curtin suit their needs better and they’ll get both.
Spot on.

No way norf trade up to pick one. They can't afford what we would want and it would make there draft hand smaller.

2 3 sanders ports 1st brings in 4 players in the first round.

We r not going to give 1 19 for 2 3. We might give 1 for 2 3 only but that goes completely against what the AFL would want north to do and what they should do just to get pick one that the coach already downplayed.

I'd have thought we wouldn't be interested in losing pick 1 without gaining an additional pick.

North fans think we’ll give them Reid and 3 other picks for 2 and 16

That's gotta be snake baker right?

I'll never forget his meltdown the night gaff switched back to us.

If his real life personality is anything like his digital personality, he's got the social skills of a lamp post.

I don't think we really care about Curtin.
How could you really, his form has been pretty average. Do they think our recruiters are blind. His a pick 5-6 at best.

Reid everyday of the week.

If we can get Curtin WITH Reid then sure.

Would be stupid to get Curtin at the expense of Reid

Don't think I've seen a draftee with game recap videos, late in the season with a team he has little experience with, look like the next best kids bottom and top aged highlight videos.

You know what you're getting with reid, and it looks to be a top 5 player at your club type recruit.

Personally don’t have Curtin in the top 5 of this draft.
He’s an outstanding talent the top 10 is pretty good but unfortunately 2 maybe 3 won’t be available in Walter, Read & Sanders.

Reid is the top talent on pretty much everyone’s boards with Walter at 2. If we split pick one for 2 & 3 and took Curtin and McKercher it’s in reality taking the 3rd and 5th or 6th best kid not the 2nd and 3rd.
The media are beating up the Eagles wanting Curtin purely on him being from WA.

I don’t see Nth going after pick one they would in fact be better off splitting pick 2 or 3 with the likes of GWS and turning McKercher a midfielder who they don’t really need if Sanders is granted as an academy player into say 2 of Watson/Caddy/O’Sullivan/Wilson/Murphy
If I was Nth I’d be bidding on a Croft, Read & McCabe types to make the other clubs pay up.

Edit: If the Eagles held pick one and Nth split pick 2 with Gws for instance then Curtin would probably be available still at pick 6 for them and get a free swing at pick 12.

If it's true that Sydney are offering stupid money for B.McKay, I can't imagine that would go down too well with the current playing group, of which the majority of whom would be on far less.

That's a lot of money also going out of their cap when they still have E.Gulden, L.McDonald, O.Florent and J.Rowbottom going off-contract next year and requiring renewal.

Could end up backfiring on them.

I would say until the last two sentences. Article says Curtin could be the long term replacement for Hurn. After comparing Reid to Judd, would a club give up Judd for Hurn? As much as I love Bunga, that's very unlikely.
Interesting. I got Hurn vibes from Curtin myself but hadn't seen anyone here or on the draft board mention it (it may have been mentioned but I haven't seen it). Curtin does seem like he'd be a decent intercept mark though. A bit like a hybrid between Gov and Hurn.

I still wouldn't give up Reid for that though. Do a deal with North to get them a decent defender, do a deal with Gold Coast to get pick 4 and take Reid and Curtin.

REID HAPPY TO PLAY ANYWHERE

Harley Reid’s coach Danny O’Bree says the No. 1 prospect has shown he is prepared to play anywhere with his remarkable season showing leadership while playing for six separate teams.

O’Bree’s Bendigo Pioneers lost the Coates League wildcard clash against the Geelong Falcons over the weekend despite 165 ranking points, 27 possessions, eight clearances and five tackles for Reid.

He has played for Bendigo, local side Tongala, the AFL academy side, Vic Country and VFL sides Carlton and Essendon.

O’Bree labelled the attention Reid as “unprecedented” through a stream of stories about whether he would reject West Coast’s trade interest and his “liking” of negative Eagles social media posts.

Reid will now prepare for the AFL draft combine from October 6-8 but O’Bree said Reid could scarcely have been more impressive.

“He is injury-free. He cramped in the last few minutes of the game and a few people were worried but he will train for the combine and get ready for that and then playing round 1 somewhere next year,” he said.

”He played in six different teams and he was excellent in all six. People questioned if he could get better but it was an extremely successful year.

“For what he has had to endure through the socials and attention it’s massive credit to him and his character. He has just got bigger and better.

“His leadership is one area we really got to work on. We made sure he was the one driving standards, galvanising the male and females groups. He was organising the chat groups, he was incredibly focused on his local football club and their fundraising drives.

“He is the most competitive kid I have seen. Even when he has the pink bib on in training which means no contact, he wants to put it in his pocket and train as hard as he can.

“We had fun with him about (which club was going to win the wooden spoon). It was all completely uncontrollable but we know he is happy to have a laugh about it.

“What he has had to endure this year. We haven’t seen it before and we won’t see it again. For him to handle it the way he has, it’s just been amazing.”

If that’s the case then the pursuit of GCS pick is back on if it gets us McKercher, happily put F1 on the table. Watson and Curtin definitely more of a need for North with their plethora of young mids already on the list, not to mention possible access to Sanders which they will need Port’s 1R pick for. If we leave this draft with Reid, McKercher and one of DeMattia or Hardeman I’ll be harder than a javelin.
Despite my post above, this would be a better outcome for us. I'm still worried about the AFL pushing McKercher home but he looks like a vastly superior player to Curtin.

Somebody get Danny O’Bree a f***ing beer, the keys to Perth and a development coach role at the Eagles. What public endorsement.

There are two main schools here:
1. Get Reid
2. Draft Curtin
I am slightly different. I want both. With these talent players plus some future returned home talent in the next two years, we should have a very strong team again.
