Must win game. If we lose this, it's going to really hurt us.
In: Ossie, Pup
Out: Bruce, Cyril if he doesn't come good. If he's ok, out goes Ellis.

Regardless of the actual team, I just hope Clarko takes a hard line approach with them this week. Adelaide is a one hour flight and Port are terrible...I mean they are an absolute rabble.

There is absolutely no excuse not to win and win well this week. Have them fired up and ready to play 4 solid quarters of hard football. No turning to marshmallows because we are in Adelaide.

If we want to maintain any credibility as a serious top 4-6 team, we have to be ruthless and efficient this week.

Nail.on.head.

Throw this into the mix -

Ins: Poupolo, Lowden, Smith (sub)

Outs: Bruce, Rioli, Ellis

We know Pops deserves a crack, Lowden has all the makings of a star and could easily rotate off the bench into forward or ruck (or sub even?) and a impact player for the bench or sub...:thumbsu:

I know you love the kid Kip but there's no way Hale, Renouf and Lowden go into the same team.

We better not underestimate Port. They will also be on their last chance, many of their senior players and not just fighting for a spot in the team this week but careers.

Has all the makings of a desperate struggle this match.

well, Hale is a 26yr? old player who has not produced a lot thus far, how about a nice kick up the arse then :D and let's see how the youngster goes :thumbsu:
Surely you'd agree that if AS was to play Lowden, then one of either Renouf or Hale would need to b omitted? It only works for Essendon, having 3 rucks as only Bellchambers is an out and out Ruck. Ryder and Hille are both very capable forwards and you also got to factor in that they don't have have 2 KPF playing in their forward line atm.

I agree, though Lowden is more than capable at ground level

If we cant win in adelaide this week then this statement becomes very relevant to a number of players on our list.

Port Adelaide are a prick of a side for us (Anywhere but especially at AAMI).

I was hoping that they would beat Kangaroos to release some pressure.

They are back at home this week (since their disgraceful loss vs Suns). They always play above their ability against us!!!).

I do not feel confident this week at all, this may sound crazy but I would feel more confident if we were playing against Collingwood instead

as much as i want smithy in, unfortunly i felt smith didnt show enough this week to warrant a spot i think wx is slighty ahead there. lowden has been great in the last 2 weeks and i reckon being the sub against port would be a good idea because everyone knows that renouf cant last 4qtrs and im confident lowden can make a impact in a qtr a footy. he's 207cm, runs quicker than most ruckmen, can kick goals, and could tire out brogan with hale combining in the ruck, allowing our mids to get first hands on the ball hence more scoring opportunities.

in lowden,wx,pup
out bruce,rioli,ladson

Not expecting wholesale changes... haven't seen them in the past so can't expect them now for must-win game against a desperate Port at home, on the back of a bye (sides often lose after the rest). Not really a time for tinkering and trying new things, i imagine the selectors would be thinking...

Forced changes - Rioli/Bruce out, Puopolo/Murphy or WhiteX

They may also look at WhiteX/Murphy for Ellis, who always seems to be on the edge of moving up from VFL or down from seniors depending where he plays... really, who knows what they are thinking with these "middle-tier" guys. They may have plans based on match ups...?

Any word on whether Osborne is ready for selection again? Maybe some time at Box Hill needed, but I think they have a bye coming up right? If so, bad timing for him, but I get the feeling we've missed him. He's always good for some forward pressure and usually gets away to provide an extra option inside 50 and bag a goal or two, reliable set shot too...

Pup will come in, maybe even forward line for his tackling pressure I reckon.

Wouldn't mind seeing Lisle given a crack at CHB. Litherland is somewhat of a forgotten man too. He's hardly a midget at 190 and 86 and apparantly has good hands and good pace. Sure he's young and untried, but so was Stratts.

Litherland was drafted for a post at HB...

Murphy will come into the backline for Bruce.

WhiteX will come into the forward line for Rioli.

Pops to replace Ellis.

Goo to be the sub again for mine. Reckon the role suits him.

Just about nailed it for mine, except for the sub.

Hawthorn has a track record of rotating the sub amongst players. Guerra has already been sub, so I'd be surprised if they went back to that particular well again. Bateman might be a chance to be the sub this time around.

Yep, I reckon that's what we'll see HJ.

Not sure about the sub really, Goo's a chance after his rather physical start to the season. Might be good for the old(ish) body.
