After listening to Seedsman's presser today, Will needs to make a sensible decision. You can't afford to roll the dice with your brain.
Agreed he shouldn't be playing on after another concussion. Sad that his career has gone this way.

I think the club will delist him and put him back on the rookie list for another year to try and honour his current contract.

Or we could pay him out.

It's become too frequent for risk him playing on.

Might also add that whatever the case is, his inability to get on the park is a bloody shame given he looks perfectly made for the present game plan of run and carry off half back which Milera is excelling at.
Milera seems to be able to accumulate much easier

Hamill’s best attributes are tantalising, but whether he shows them enough over the course of an AFL game has been a prior concern

I also agree with the discourse re: his concussions, for his own sake it might be best to reconsider his priorities

This kid has been brought up by multiple posters as one to de-list and re-rookie, or he should give it away for his 'concussion' health...
But he got through this year unscathed, and I'd like to bring forth an opinion...
The 'if I was coach' opinion.
I'd give this speedster a license to run on the wing. Use his weapons. Try to find or create space with his speed. Wingmen who can burn off an opponent can be a vital part of quick transition.
We have enough small defender coverage now.
But, tell me who our up and coming wingers are? Sure, often they are extra midfielders, (Crouch and Hately, right? LOL) but why not have wingers who can use their weapons and create space?
What wingers are we using next year?
Sholl has been tried ad nauseum, right? Quick wingers run off him with a smile on their face.
Jones, Smith and ... maybe Soligo/Sloane if we put them out there are my best guesses.
But...just saying, lets release him. Open space, better for concussion issues too than the thrust of defensive heat.
Remember his run down chase of Danger? Caused Danger to get pissed off and shitfront Kelly haha.
That speed... lets use it.

Agree, but that doesn't mean he can't be delisted and re-rookied.

I like some of those thoughts. I do think Hamill is good enough to play regular AFL and a positional change might be a reasonable ploy. I reckon his thin frame is a contributing factor to him being knocked around more than others, so hopefully he puts in a solid preseason of weights. Keen to see how this lad progresses for next year.

Thin?

I like what you're saying but its difficult for that vision to happen with our gameplan which is built around contest dominance.

One aspect of the contest dominance thing is to have an extra at the contest rather than say down back. Since (unlike other teams) we never have an extra in defense we never get the quick outlets from defense due to the extra like other teams and so getting a Hamill running on the end of them is much less likely.

Then there's the problem that when we have said contests on the wing say, Hamill will be expected to be up in there (on the inside or level, never on the outside side of his opponent, thats not how we roll) and expected to provide defensive heat for us and win the contest if its his turn (risking concussions).

Im not so concerned about his concussion history as others on here are but seriously, the dude would be wise to try and seek a trade, if he was operating in a team with an open gameplan, he'd be tonnes better off.

Think you're mixing up the 185cm 70kg Will Hamill we drafted with the 2023 187cm 84kg Will Hamill. Nothing about his size is a contributing factor any longer. Take another Will...Will Day 191cm 83kg after coming in at draft time at 187cm 70kg
I’m actually surprised with the size change, as I thought he was still under 80kg. Granted, I’ve not followed much of the SANFL this year. It would be interesting to see for next year and beyond if his concussions would lessen or not, with now a decent body size.
