I'd put Pietersen in the side for his running war of words with the South Africans and for his selfish attitude regarding his place in the batting order. You've got a former England captain singling him out as a problem player. Definitely a problem player. If not for the fact he can score a lot of runs when things are going his way you'd boot him out of your team. As it is you have to question the effect he is having on team morale.

No but the openers are almost always going to be facing the ball when it is at its hardest and shiniest, when the opposing bowlers are fresh and likely to be bowling at their fastest and most dangerous.
