If this has been sat on for this long, and is only just getting seen now, what do people think is going to happen? That the AFL will throw their hands up, oh you got us.

No, it has been sat on because it is not big- its info of course, we get to see what life was like for those behind the scenes- but it wont change anything. This is a last grasp desperate attempt at a smear campaign. It will be the hot topic up until the season starts.
A leak every now and then trying to incite rage, but people do not care.

So many in here saying let it go. The club has moved on.

Its not about the club. Its about bringing these corrupt people and organisations to account.

Its about giving the people who have had the reputations destroyed a second chance.

But more importantly, its about making sure my sons and the sons and daughters of all are not ever put in this situation again.

Just remember its not the club fighting here its the people. So i say let them fight for what is right.

The club is in a great position now with great people leading the way.

This won't effect them at all.

To some extent, I agree.
The AFL admin needs a cleanout and a fresh outlook.
Time for the Demetriou era to end, meaning get rid of Gil and any other smarmy pricks who climbed the greasy pole with them.

It probably suits their situation too though.

There was a time to fight and it was years ago.

I've said many times over the years that Hird should have stood aside when he was put in the gun and fought without an arm tied behind his back. His "fight" was always completely compromised whilst he remained an AFL coach.

Unfortunately he made bad decisions and was, I assume, very poorly advised.

You can even hear Little saying on those tapes you all need to decide what's best for you and your situation, and if that means deviating from the club then so be it.

The unfortunate truth is, like it or not, Hird went along with this process.

He clearly believes in his own innocence - and he may well be completely correct - but he wasn't true to himself.

Whilst I don't agree with what happened to this people this last line is naive.

Look at the optimism, and the hope and more importantly the momentum this club had behind it in the offseason.

We didn't just hear a recording this morning what we heard is the collective groan of everyone that this is again being dredged up. It kills peoples enjoyment of footy. Why follow something for fun when there is no fun anymore, just constant lies, and negative media.

Bunk is right, the time to fight for this is gone, we lost.
Part of war is the winner gets to write history, now those that are left need to suck it up and move on, or future supporters will be lost and the club will be impacted for years to come. We cant have this hanging over our heads, the club needs to attract people, how is it going to do that when the past keeps getting thrown in everyone's faces?

There comes a time when you need to accept that something happened that was awful, if you don't accept it and try and fight against something that has already happened you will never heal.

there's a court action and a govt enquiry which will both be interested in this new evidence. What about the "note" that Little mentions in the transcript? It sounds like there is also documented evidence to support these enquiries into the conduct of the AFL's officials.

What new evidence!! This tape has no new anything?

Little said it himself, they have none of these guarantees in writing. What is it going to show? That the AFL proposed to punish the club and individuals as per its rules?
Well knock me down we know all this, and look at the way some Essendon supporters are viewing this recording? People who have lived this nightmare for four years.

What you think the common public is going to think? No one gives a shit.

As for Government enquiries etc, the only reason anyone would touch this is for point scoring and to better their position politically. No one cares what happened at our club, they didn't care what REALLY happened when the investigation was on (only who was to be punished) and they certainly don't care now.
Journalists care about their clicks
Politicians care about their careers
the possible 4 that may have leaked this care about smearing a name and revenge
Twitter newsbreakers care about making a name for themselves.

All these people going on about how this could change everything, the top could be blown off this story. No it cant. Punishments were served and the records show that our players are drug cheats. That is not going to be changed.

Do you honestly think that if this damning recordings are so important and so powerful that they wouldn't have been used earlier? Like when it might have actually mattered?

The common person is going to get reactive and look at who is left from the saga

Hird - gone
Thompson - gone
Evans - gone
Robson - gone
Andruska - gone
Demetriou - gone
McDevitt - gone
Fitzpatrick - gone
McLachlan - top job

hey I wonder who their anger can be directed against this time around?

in the words of Willy Shakespeare

'Things without all remedy should be without regard: what's done, is done and what's done cannot be undone.'

ill never quote Shakespeare again.
We both know thats untrue

There is plenty of it left actually.
Again, goes back to my earlier post on what you personally identify with. What the club represents that any other doesn't I couldn't put my finger on. For a lot of people it might be going to a game with your mates and sharing that interest in the same club. My mates I used to do that with have given up on the footy. I'm at the stage I'm barracking out of a sense of duty that I brainwashed myself with at a very early age.

The absurdity of why I care if the red and black ones are better at chasing the oval ball around than the other coloured teams is just a mental illness I can't yet seem to get over.

Evidence: We are looking at conduct - not PEDs. There hasn't been any evidence about conduct so far as I know. At the very least Gill will be asked questions about why Little et al were discussing these matters if he hadn't raised them. The recordings couldn't have been raised earlier without hurting the EFC, that's why they weren't. They can be raised now because none of the individuals concerned are still associated with the EFC. Ir seems that there's something in writing, Little refers to a note. There may aslo be notes of the various meetings.
There were presumably non-disclosure undertakings that accompanied the sanctions. These could be examined in a court in the context of the conduct of the AFL both before and after the recorded meeting.
The shakier and the more dodgy the process is found to be, the more the finding of "drug cheats" looks like a manufactured result. How can that be bad for the players?
