Is everyone in agreeance that we'll be rolling with 2 ruckmen?
I keep seeing best 22s on random social media pages and they all keep leaving out Nank or Soldo.

I just can't see it happening unless one of them is unavailable.
I think it will be situational. Wouldnt surprise me to see us roll with 1 ruckman at times.
Think it might be a rotational policy during the season between the 3.
Against fellow finalists we go in with Soldo & Nank.
Bottom 8 mix n match.

This changes week to week, and is a mix of predictions/personal preferences:

B: Grimes Rance Vlastuin
HB: Broad Astbury Houli
C: Prestia Cotchin Edwards
HF: Stack Riewoldt Martin
F: Castagna Lynch Rioli
R: Soldo Lambert Ross
INT: Bolton Baker Balta Caddy

EMG: Pickett Nankervis Macintosh Naish Short Chol Graham Collier-Dawkins Higgins

Seriously fully fit it's impossible to do, we have genuine depth and my 22 would change week to week.
I also know in reality they will likely play Nank instead of Balta/Chol, but I like the flexibility that they both offer, and for me Soldo has earnt number 1 ruck honors.

I am leaning that way with Soldo as well. Seems unbelieveable considering 18 months ago I felt he was going to be just another big unit that plodded around spudding it up ( see Graham from a few years ago).

But his development has been nothing short of amazing. He's no NicNat or Grundy, but I think I am playing him ahead of Nank now. Will be interesting to see who match committee go with come R1 if both are fit and performing well in the 2 praccie games.

What I will say is that Dimma and his crew are not afraid to drop players established or not and promote kids or players performing in vfl seen it alot this year.Best like that keeps everyone on edge to perform and improve.

B : Grimes - Astbury - Vlastuin
HB: Houli - Rance - Stack
C: Lambert - Cotchin - Edwards
HF: Rioli - Riewoldt - Caddy
FF: Castagna - Lynch - Bolton
R: Nankervis - Prestia - Martin - Graham

I know it's hard - but we can't play with 23. In fact, I think Scott is pushing for us to have to play with only 21 next year. ;)

Rance & Graham to come in for Baker & Broad.

Bloody good side but yeah

Agree.. it's the 1st team I've seen that each line, and every player in every position I was 'yep, yep, yep....'.
Then FK.. Graham sitting on the fence waving his 'fixed' shoulder saying... 'I'm in the team qunts!!'.

Edit: wait.. there's no Soldo. Who's 2nd ruck?
Looks like Baker comes out for me. And I guess choose between Ross and Graham. Depend on the opposition match up. Slightly different strengths.

time to pull the finger out Balta
Actually thats an aspect i hadnt thought about. Would have been good to have Rancey around for Balta to follow each and every day for a couple more years atleast :(

Cotchin to HB ala Hodge
2 ruckman a no brainer (CCJ may sneak in there)
Same back 6 as 2019 except add Cotchy in there
No 2019 draftees to debut

With Rances retirement, the only change to the premiership 22 is Graham replacing Ellis in the 22 with Pickett moving to the wing.

With the depth players I want to see them perform well at VFL level before handing them a spot in the 22 as we no longer need to reward kids just because they are young. If we reward their good form in game that will help ensure that our club continues to enjoy success as they will have earned the right to be in the side.

The first spot up for grabs is obviously Rances and it's not just Balta who is in contention, Garthwaite is highly regarded by the club and will be pushing just as hard to try and claim that spot, which all goes well for the future as they will both be forced to earn the spot.

Then there is a couple of midfield spots that will need filling sooner rather than later with Cotchin & Edwards in particular closer to the end than the start of their careers as well. RCD Ross Naish Turner Higgins Dow will all be keen to put their hands up as the heir apparent to those 2 in particular. Again it's going to create a real contest in the VFL for these guys to put their hands up.

Along side Rances departure from the back 6 Houli is another who is coming towards the end of his career and there will be an opportunity down the track for someone to take that rebounding HB role with a couple of good options already in the 22 in Baker & Short with the likes of Stack & DES waiting in the wings.

What this shows is that we're in a very good spot for sustained success, but it will require those depth players to keep pushing to get them best out of themselves.

Stacky comes in too. Would of 100% been there if fit. Reckon Shorty/Baker would make way.
