Is this game last years Geelong game? Could we go on a 3 game winning streak with a few players back? Its Bombers away and Richmond at home (then Bulldogs in Ballarat - vomit).

Or am I jumping the shark?
I think there are still issues ie Crouch and then Pedlar not even getting game time

Its not the endeavour that people hate on - its the skill level and selection policies. Even the CBAs again were skewed towards senior players -Schoenberg at 25 the outlier - but it seems Harry is now our go to 'look we play kids in the middle'

Tex back means Gollant or Fogarty go out - I cant see Himmelberg getting dropped nor Gollant - but who knows

Sloane may or may not be back which pushes Pedlar out - ' to get touch in the SANFL' (while sitting on the pine all night) Sloane will also take most of Harrys CBAs

Anyway to answer the question - I'm just not sure - I dont think Essendon are as bad as their ladder position says but Richmond home are certainly gettable

This is really ugly. Despite the loss PA has moved off the bottom. Hopefully after they loose to Melbourne they will return to where they belong

Just saw the news on Today Show and they showed our game highlights then Melbourne v Essendon.

What a contrast. Ours was huge. Their game in a half empty stadium boring as bat shit.

But yay Victoria.
Nothing is sader than a game at the G with a small crowd. Outside of finals and maybe Pies/Tigers games, all the Crows games there are like that.

I don't watch much footy besides the Crows but what on earth has happened to Rozee? He was meant to be the next big thing..

Injuries and bathwater.

He was the guy I wanted in that 2018 draft and even more so after his first year.

Now.... Only Butters looks a player from either sides picks.

It's amazing how much influence Gollant had on the match with only 6 touches

He's got 'it'
Yep .....just not strong enough yet, to grab those pack marks ....hopefully another 12 mnths

I wonder what he would be like in another team. The ducking would infuriate me, like it does with Rowe or previously Knight.

We were quite bad for the majority of that game. It's round 3 and we still look asleep. Most of the squad is out of form and our midfield woes are as evident as ever.

That last 5 minutes was the happiest I've been for us in a long time, but aside from that it was pretty grim.

Says a lot how bad port were as well.

Amazing:
- Refusing to roll over when we got down and lost momentum, then ending up pinching an unlikely win, that was incredible. I really didn't see us winning at any point just felt like another honorable loss of about 2 goals where we threaten but never gain enough momentum to kick a few in a row.

Good:
  • I understand why Sydney wanted a high price from Dawson, he honestly looks worth it with his kicking & ability to find the ball.
  • Murphy played really well. The hate for the guy on here surprises me at times. Coaches were vindicated for bringing him back quite quickly last night.
  • Hinge looks to be a solid player and a decent free pick up.
  • Gollant & Himmelberg both contributed really well, it's a shame the latter isn't more consistent as nights like last night he looks AFL standard.
  • Framptons kicking from defence is generally a whole lot more reliable and sometimes even a weapon compared to guys we've had.
  • Still love what I'm seeing from Rachele even if wasn't as big on stat sheet.
  • Travis Choke missing an easy goal after a 50m penalty that should have iced the game.

Bad:
  • Frampton at actual defending and still generally a bit too much of Billy messing around eg that dropped mark.
  • Fogarty just isn't doing enough, we all want him to click but it's not happening, has to be the first one out this week.
  • Jones I wouldn't say he stuffed lots up, just not involved enough for a player of his level of experience now. Felt like he was finding his spot last year but a sluggish start in general to this year.

Ugly:
- 50m penalties & free kicks. Putting the questionable umpiring aside we do some stuff that really needs to be tidied up and makes winning an even more monumental task than it already is for our young side.

Other:
- Schoenberg wasn't back to his best but it was an improvement on last week, kicked a beautiful goal that I'm hoping reignites some confidence.

Just watching Nicks' presser now (and without wanting to go back through 24 pages of comments to see if anyone else has mentioned this), Nicks makes comments re:
  • the significance of the way the club entered the AFL,
  • the divide that exists in SA as a result of that,
  • how he's seen it "from both sides",
  • and most significantly he says he "much prefer(s) being on this side of the fence".

Gee whiz, what a thing to admit as a throwaway in the last 30 seconds of your presser! He seemed very serious about it too.

Onya Nicksy!

Can't wait for the Port Adelaide melts when Ken Hinkley is not sacked tomorrow, or this week, or next week, or the week after, or this season

To all the Port lurkers, it's not happening
There will be no Port lurkers in this thread...ever!

CBA's - Round 3 Game 3 - Adelaide 31 - Reilly O'Brien 29, Harry Schoenberg 25, Ben Keays 23, Rory Laird 22, Matt Crouch 16, Josh Rachele 5, Jordan Dawson 2 & Elliot Himmelberg 2

I swear I saw Cook or Hinge in one.

On the negatives, Billy Frampton was successfully able to con our coaches into thinking he's a defender by beating up on crappy SANFL forwards, often playing loose.

He was dead set lost out there and towelled up by a terrible key forward. He's 25, he doesn't have it, move on
Doedee was on Toddy on a couple of those lead up marks .

It says a MASSIVE amount about them.

They've got injuries, Dixon, Fantasia and especially Allir, but they just aren't that good.

A pretty good balance.

And we won the centre breaks 13 10.

No Sloane.

When he comes back, it has to be as a forward.

Its strange how a come from behind win after the siren instantly washes away the memory of the utter crap we witnessed for 80% of the game!..

I like the psycho look of Sholl there

Hopefully it means he kicks on from his good form last year.

Actually Rachele was holding onto the ball for dear life as soon as the free kick was awarded, while Murphy was taken off the field, then the umpire took it off him and gave it to Dawson.

Its as if the umpire knew, Dawson is the best kick in our side.

You wouldn’t have been upset with either though would you?

Smart by all the players involved. But especially Murphy.
