Yup, too young for Geelong.
Whispers coming from some football circles tonight is that Gillon McLachlan is dusting off the 1994 adidas predators for a stunning return down the highway.

Seriously though....I hope he helps out the Saints in his post AFL CEO life - has a lot of great IP which could assist Satan no end.

Out of our uncontracted players (at this stage) I would expect the following:
Extensions:
1 Year: Long, Wood, Bytel, Hayes, Joyce, Lienert, Campbell
2 Years: Paton, Butler, Heath, Byrnes, Highmore, Jones
3+ Years: Higgins, Battle, Marshall
Delist: Kent
Retire: Ryder, Hanners, Geary
Thought Jones and Higgins were contracted til next year?

Not sure why we'd grab a tall forward, we already have a promising one in the twos who can't get a game.
He cant get a game because he is not good enough at the minute. Mcstay is a step up on Sharman and has the record to prove it. Can also play down back. Not sure if we will chase him though. Can recall a few posters saying that he had big offers going his way. A RFA end of 2022.

Yeah, apparently Essendon and Collingwood offering very big money to lure him. Last thing we need is McStay. Mids, elite Small forward, a lump KPB maybe but a forward would be a waste IMO. Very good player but last in line for needs IMO.

We currently have Hayes and Sharman not in the 22 so not sure why we'd chase him

Both have shown they are more than capable. They aren't getting a game because they are no good, it's because we have Max, Membrey and Marshall which is good enough

IMO we've got close to the best forward line in the comp. I'd be looking at other areas

No-one said they are no good. Sharman has not kicked a goal all year in magoos- probably played a bit in defence but that's their call. So like I said, he wont get a game at the minute or not even for quite a few weeks. Hayes is in front of him. The structure has changed since Sharman played last year. Gresham coming back has altered the set-up.

His record is hardly great

He's never managed to kick more than 30 goals in a season

Hed be behind King, Membrey and Marshall and fighting for the next in line.

So we'd be paying 600k to upgrade a depth player in Sharman, who is 5 years younger.

There's a limit to how many big blokes you can fit into a side. The fact neither Sharman and Hayes could get a game in a full side shows how stacked we are in that department.

A depth player...surely you jest, I am not advocating him to be recruited anyway but you have drifted the subject around to that.

He is twice the footballer Sharman is though, who like I said has not kicked a goal this year and you are saying he is our depth in the strongest forward line in the comp according to you.

What has his age got to do with it? Either you play well or you dont and he is not doing in the magoos in a middle of the road side at best.

Membrey is 188cm & Marshall is rucking at least 60% or more of the game, Hayes played there once. So where is all the height you speak of in the forward line? King at 200cm and thats it.

A lot of the goals have been kicked by the smaller guys, so that makes a mockery of the big forward line rationale.

Membrey plays as a key position player, the fact hes slightly smaller than that makes no difference. He isn't a small forward.

And he's also a much better key forward than McStay.

Membrey has never kicked less than 34 goals in a season (Not counting a shortened 2020) since 2015

McStay has never kicked more the 28 goals

So the question is, who's spot does he take in the 22?

You may claim he's twice the player Sharman is by why would we pay that kind of money for a guy because he's a better player than one we've got currently in the VFL?
