What we should be looking at doing is prying the Harry Edwards types out of clubs not the Timmy English best 22 types

When you look at the players who have done very well at a second club it's those who couldn't break into a side but had shown glimpses.

I can't remember who the poster is that wants Tanner Bruhn but he's the perfect type of player. They've dropped in value since the draft but through no fault of their own with a stacked midfield that's very hard to break in to.

Players we can pick up for late second/third round picks shoudl be the goal along with taking our first and second and ports second to the draft. I'd be very keen on swapping back our first round pick if it's in that 1-3 range and the offers come in.

Yeah especially rucks.

He's just not worth the price. He's not a genuine number 1 ruckman.

Williams and a second won't get it done unless Williams somehow shows a lot more than what I've seen.
How many ruckmen are better than him? Gawn, NN, Witts, Marshall, Darcy
I reckon he’s gone passed Grundy or very close to, definitely with around the ground work, and close with lycett and Draper

So he may be the 6th best ruck man, but would be top 3 for round the ground and ability to play as a forward.

Lol he's so far ahead of Draper it isn't funny. So is everyone you just named

What happens with the SSP players long term if the Eagles wanted to retain them?
They offer them a contract to stay at the club

Essentially they are rookie listed players who’s contracts expire at the end of this year. We are not required to redraft them

It’s those hitout numbers that are the concern, aren’t they.
Comparable to someone like Xerri who is 6 cm shorter and had only played 12 games before this year.

Ditto Flynn who’s just as short and inexperienced as Xerri.

It’s actually bonkers that English is 207 cm. Didn’t realise he was that huge.

I know it’s a completely irrational reason, but English just looks like a bit of a ponce

He has some good attributes but I just don’t see the value in him given our overwhelming list need to bolster the midfield

Do we want to trade for players, keeping in mind where we're at with our list development?

A-grade players are expensive and will slow the list rebuild as you're forced to give up multiple picks.
Depth players take opportunities away from young developing players.

Unless someone like Deven Robertson cracks the shits and demands to be traded home (and even then, with what he's shown at AFL level, we should not be giving up any significant capital for him), I would like to see us not trade players in.

Both those guys have his measure in hitout% won and hitouts to advantage.

It begs the question, do you want a ruck like NicNat who’s going to beast the ruck contests but offer little around the ground, or do you want a ruck that’s going to play as a fifth midfielder like Cox did, but not offer much in the hitouts?

Are you throwing shade at Cox here? Because he was an exceptional tap artist

Look we need Luke Jackson to re-sign asap and the durples to change their focus to English

Tried to word it in a way that didn’t throw shade at Cox, because he was one of the rare specimens that could do both.

It's funny how people undervalue players wanting to be traded in, while overvaluing players that want out.
Tim English is worth a mid to low first pick alone at this stage. Probably not worth much more.
Even Redden and Wellingham cost us a first round pick in the teens.
Welcome to BigFooty. You must be new here.

Yeah given he’s taller than most rucks but losing 2/3 contests, you have to assume he’s just not very good at rucking. Clearly a very talented all-round footballer but he’ll always be a bit of a tweener

If jackson was a target of freo it'd be as a forward who pinch hits in the ruck ,they already have darcy and meeks.they have absolutely no need for English whatsoever
Thatd be the only reason we'd get english on the cheap.
And with the bulldogs firmly in the premiership window I'd say theyd be very reluctant to trade english whos showing improvement and isnt ancient

Wouldn't be surprised if this is simply a ploy from his manager to hold out for more money, especially as he's playing better than ever.
