Williams will come in to replace Stocker
Hewitt will replace Carrol

They will likely give Newnes another game, I’d be inclined to bring in Williamson to play wing.

Can't drop Carroll. Great debut performance, and he's in our best team.
Cottrell out for Hewett, and Newnes dropped to sub.

no idea - my expectations don't lead to any sense of "should win" - I've followed this mob too long to carry more than hope and general optimism - further to this, my support has been so damaged in the past 20 years that getting games into youth and watching our progress as we improve is sometimes all I have

Let's leave, age, favourites, positions out of the equation

Who would you say were bottom 4 for output?

Based on what metric?

Stock, before he got injured, wasn’t seeing much of the ball and Owies had a literal handful of possessions but kicked 2 goals. Durdin didn’t kick any goals but laid 4 goals. And Jack M drifted in an out of the game, but when he was in the game he was excellent.

I don’t mind him either. They have a good midfield with Keays, Crouch and Laird and OBrien is an excellent ruck (big challenge for TDK) so I think we need to expose their level down.

Reckon Crouch is a shadow of his former self...

Judging by the stats, he may well be playing a different role - no scoreboard impact whatsoever and an uncontested (cheap?) ball beast...

Need to watch yesterday's replay v GWS but you'd think the GWS midfield simply smashed the Crows' mids....

Williams in for Stocker is a straight forward swap but getting Hewett into the side is a little bit more tricky. Positionally I think Newnes will be dropped, but he actually played decently well. I wonder if we're willing to experiment with only playing 6 defenders and bring in Hewett for a Newman/Plowman.
No question getting hewett into the side. It’s who gets dropped. No way hewett doesn’t play if fit. Agree Williams in for stock, if Williams is fit.

I can’t see Carroll being dropped this week. Crazy talk.

Already one of our best ball users going inside 50. A lock on wing/HFF.

Changes I'd make:

In: Hewett, Williams
Out: Cottrell, Stocker (inj)
Sub: Newnes

Williams Young Plowman
Saad Weitering Docherty
Carroll Cripps Walsh
Fisher McKay Martin
Durdin Curnow Owies

TDK Hewett Cerra
Kennedy Silvagni Newman LOB
Newnes

Sloane is a huge loss for them too.

This was yesterday's Crows' team - not strong.

Crows team 30.4.PNG

Down back, Frampton a failed forward/ruck at CHB...

Butts a 30 game rookie lister at FB.

Brodie Smith a likely out with concussion.

They've kicked 100 once this year, but under 65 in 3 games.

Bottom 4 for output last night would be Stocker (his injury means that he'll be the one out for Newman), Durdin (but his 4 tackles and 19 pressure acts keeps him in the side), O'Brien (you don't drop him after 1 bad game) and TDK (you don't drop your only ruckman).

So despite them being in our bottom 4 players we still don't have someone for Hewett to replace. JSOS was average but we need him our side structurally. Plowman was average but positionally I doubt he'll be omitted for Hewett.

Everyone else I thought was really good, meaning that either Hewett doesn't come into the side (won't happen), we move around the magnets and make it work (doubt it) or we drop our worst performing mid/winger (Newnes).

I guess that may answer your question.

As for not dropping a player after 1 game, we are well past that mantra, especially for the likes of LOB who has had a stint already this year, although after being nervous early, settled into the game well and held his body solidly in a couple of contests

If I was keeping one of Newnes or LOB after this week, it would be Newnes

Outs: Stocker, Cotts, with either Newnes or LOB the sub

Ins: Williams and Hewett

For the future of the team it is ridiculous to be picking Newnes over LoB. Newnes is a depth, injury option. Nice to have him but shouldn’t be starting ahead of LoB.

I sense most have this sentiment, which is understandable

The future of the team is to make finals this year and LOB is far from a lock

I don't think either should be dropped

Agree he’s not a lock. But if it comes to a pick between those two, I’m picking LOB.

Personally, I’d like to see Fish on the other wing. I think he’s a much better player when he’s injected on the ball rather than playing the high half forward role. Carroll can replace Fish there.

That's the way I see it too.

GWS's first half was awe inspiring....

Crows were nowhere near it.

Wouldn't have known a few Crows were even playing eg Crouch, Walker, Doedee (well pretty much the whole team!)

Kudos to GWS though, they were uber slick.

If Hogan had kicked straight, they would have been up by 12 goals at half time.

He wasn't in good form though. But he is their captain.

But that's a pretty short injury list, with only Sloane and Seedsman best 22. Brodie Smith will miss due to concussion. McHenry may or may not play, though he doesn't make much difference.
