I’d imagine Turner would be a 6-month contract, most likely to be delisted at the end of the year if he doesn’t surprise in a big way

Interested to see who we go for, otherwise

I expect Culley, Derken and Ramsden likely gone before our pick. Possibly Carmichael too.

Carmichael - big bodied mid/forward that hits the scoreboard

Carrigan - athletic tall outside mid/wingman

Jamieson Ballantyne - skillful dual sided outside mid/wingman with speed, agility and great endurance.

Surely if we're taking Turner it would be with our 2nd pick as I can't see him being in great demand at 25 personally?
We will have pick 4. The first four you mentioned can't be gone by our pick.

And I don't see the harm in this. The player gets a shot he normally otherwise wouldn't get, gets a good payout (there's clauses they get a lump sum payment if they don't get recontracted after the 6 months) and the club gets to widen it's pool of players to develop who may become AFL players.

So he had a good game in Round 3 against us..

Has he played any other games like this?.. what other runs on the board has he got?..

Why do I get the feeling this club gets stars in their eyes when they get resoundly beaten by players or even an entire club and they then do all they can to emulate their conquerors.. as if they go “thats where we need to be”..

Ever since we were beaten in the 2017 GF by the tigers mosqito fleet of midfielders and midfield/small forwards.. have a look at how we have drafted our midfielders.. we’ve worked on building a mosquito fleet all around the 180cm mark!..

Now we have a player towel us up in ONE game at SANFL level and it sounds like our solution is “geez, maybe we need to grab him in the MSD!”.. like he must be good if he can beat us.. forgetting that we tore the Bays a new one in the first half before falling asleep completely in the third and having 10 goals kicked on us..

It screams of an organisation that struggles to think for itself..
I can assure you our SANFL scouts wouldn't be assessing off just one game if we have interest, they would have either watched almost all games he's played the last couple of years and no doubt pored over his tapes.

I'd think if we're taking 2 picks he would likely be our 2nd pick?

Maybe I could have worded it better but they would appear to be the most in demand along with Carmichael.

Massimo D'Ambrosio might also appeal to clubs looking for a Caleb Daniel type precision kicker.

I don't think it's remotely about winning sanfl. But the reality is it's unfair to other sanfl teams to have their best players taken mid year and play against them.
It's good for the player, they get the shot they deserve, but it hurts the integrity of the competition.
That's what I thought you were implying in your post.

Apologies if you were suggesting otherwise.

Finally.. so Nicksy was taking shit in an interview a few weeks back..

And I really cant believe poor seed is still considering trying to continue his career.. its been 6 months and he’s still feeling the effects..

Thats game over you’d have to think unfortunately..

Nix is obviously a little bit full of shit or thinks he has more influence on list management than he actually has. Given the way his career is tracking, you’d think anything he says about list management going forward would be taken with a grain of salt.

I'd hope they send him to guard the bee during list management meetings.

Be interesting what we do. I'm glad we've opened up two picks and hope we use them both. The 'list management issue' line that key decision makers have run with over the last month or so (and briefly ran with after we picked Parnell last year too, as if it was an inconvenience to have to do so) is a load of wank. If the selections we make here cause our list management team stress, that is a terrific outcome. You can't turn down free hits.

Carrigan is the interesting one. Haggis flagged his name last year before scrubbing him because he'd had no exposed form. But is obviously someone we've kept our eyes on. Ticks a lot of boxes for a speculative MSD pick.

I think we'd be mad if we didn't go after Ramsden though. Our rucks are both nearly 27 and there's a 4 year development process for most ruckmen. We should be looking to secure our 'post ROB' ruck in the next 12 months and giving them time to develop and compete on the list with some senior heads to mentor them. Ramsden looks like a go-er, and he's a free hit. It just seems a no-brainer.

Sandringham Dragons leftie Lachie Carrigan invited to AFL’s draft combine
The 17-year-old has shot up in height in the past two years — and with his left-foot kicking and elite running ability he’s also risen in the rankings of AFL recruiters.
He wanted to consistently be in the best players, not talent official Kevin Sheehan alerting him to his selection.

“I slept pretty well after that,’’ he said.

But the draft hopeful with pace and a piercing left-foot did his share of tossing and turning this year as he watched the pandemic delay and then dash the season.

“Yeah, it was frustrating for everyone,’’ Carrigan said.

“We all wanted to play but couldn’t get to the games to prove ourselves. We’d done the work. I was the fittest I’d ever been, felt really good. Then it was all waiting. Early in 2018 he was 168cm. But he was starting to get noticed for his left foot and his running ability.

He’s shot up to 190cm and 76kg, and last year he pushed up for five games with the Dragons while the youngest player on their list.

“His kicking skills and some of the stuff he did was pretty special,’’ coach Josh Bourke fizzed after Carrigan’s second game. “He’s got promise. He’s a very good kick of the footy and a good runner.’’

Has he been able to play much this year?

Anyone hear Roo and Ditts this morning, reckon Tex has a 2 year offer on the table for a contending club.

Any guesses who? Maybe the Saints?
It was narrowed down to one of Melbourne, Brisbane, St Kilda, Carlton, Geelong, Sydney or Freo. Geelong have hawkins and Cameron so probably not them, I don't think it's Carlton either.

Could we safely rule Carlton out given their very good key forward stocks?
