The other issue for mine is the consent.

It's such a tricky one.

On one hand we know that some women will defend their abusers and minimise the impact for a variety of societal and social reasons.

On the other it is almost **** shaming to say that the girl in question doesn't have the right to choose what she is OK with.
It's almost like the whole argument we have regarding the AFL Tribunal about outcomes, not actions, deciding the punishment.

de Goey goes around trying to pull women's tops off in public without their prior consent. This particular woman is apparently (at least publicly) not outraged by that. That doesn't mean the next woman he does it to won't be.

Dwayne Russell reckons Port in the mix for best forward line in the comp. WTF is he smoking?
On paper he isn't too far wrong.

Get rid of Bassett and Hinkley and then see how it looks. Since Bassett has come in we might have used our forward assets worse than any club since the AFL was formed.

Yep. And there's also the little issue of whether De Goey was actually aware of the woman's consent - and capacity to give informed consent - BEFORE he molested her.

It's possible he was, in which case his actions were simply crass. My guess is that it's just another case of a drunken yobbo thinking he can get away with touching up a girl. But that's just a guess based on his previous indiscretions - I have no way of knowing.

I reckon it is an important distinction.

Weren't we saying the same thing about Lade when he was forward coach from 2016-2018?
I wasn't, others might have been (I wasn't on this forum for 2016-2017). I think in 2016-2018 most of the blame went on player selection rather than structure and method which generally was assumed to fall to Ken.

Yeah. I wasn't either. But by 'we' I meant supporters.

I recall a lot of discussion about our forward entries during that time that sound a lot like what I hear now. And much of the blame was laid at Lade.

And the ******* production at the ground is nauseating - the constant yelling by ground announcers is enough to put me off. * - give us a chance to talk to the people we have gone to the game with.

It's been poor for a while, besides the already mentioned issues (mainly the MC and gimmicky crap during the breaks) there are two things that frustrate me.

- Show the content of both sides of the banner before the players run out. From where we sit, neither side can be read. Not a big deal but the cheersquad go through the effort to make it, the least they could do is show their work.

- The lack of replays on the big screen during play, be it highlights or contentious free kicks. It either doesn't happen or is extremely slow.

Having been to the away showdown earlier this year, the lack or replays at our games was noticeable. I'm sure the clubs outsource the game day production and ours like a lot of things at the moment is a long way off.

He's clearly out of step with the rest of the AFL media because the official line is that Kenny Hinkley is a genius and it's only our list of potatoes holding him back from winning multiple flags.

Its Ken's brilliant mind that has resulted in the player development to take our list to be one of the best in the AFL.

You just have to remember that he can't kick it for them on game day.

Totally agree. Anyone who has been to a US football or basketball game, even at College level, would see just how far behind we are when it comes to match day entertainment.

And I'm not talking about expensive technology upgrades here but basic level engagement with those who have paid good money to come to games and support their team.

It also got people to the precinct earlier and the sma could have weened off that. Instead they shut it down. It didn’t take long for them to * the game day experience of Adelaide Oval and tire it like aami stadium. It’s now a ground you get to 10 minutes before the start.

This paragraph should be sent to every key stakeholder.

Only the SMA (SANFL) could take the 2014 fan experience and completely ruin it within a few years.

And the sting in the tail is that when crowds never again reach the giddy heights of those first seasons in the CBD, and the inquests begin, the blame will be placed on ‘bandwagoning’/‘fairweather’ fans, instead of the gormless suited chodes like Daniels who literally have no idea what they’re doing.

Isn’t it ironic Caro takes a high stance against an AFL club employee and their conduct against women whilst sitting next to Ross Lyon?!?!?

Selective targets for criticism, moral high ground claims and extolling virtues from a safe soapbox. Classic vfl MO.

High standards are good, but double standards are twice as good

It would be ironic if Lyon was the one taking the high moral stance - unless Caro is a producer on the show and has a say in who else appears
Exactly.

The sad fact is that Caro works in an industry where targeted harassment of women has been the norm for far too long. Who can forget this disgraceful on air act of Sam Newman while Eddie McGuire (AM) looked on.

And for some dumbass reason someone takes a punt at her 'high moral stance' because of the past actions of a fellow panellist.

The hypocrisy rests with her employer and fellow panelist not with her. (And it is not 'irony').

FFS.

Don’t be silly, she should quit the industry and never work in journalism again because men acted like dickheads.

Not sure if a sign of senility or just ignorance, but Mick Malthouse on the wireless this morning:

"..and I mean that metamorphically"

What was Mick sprouting this time ? Backed off on his Bombers winning the Grandy statement o_O
