Then Oscar Allen never recovers fully from his injury and we are royally f***ed up front.

Jack Darling only goes for a godfather offer.
Exactly. Waterman is not up to AFL Full Fwd standard. We would have to get in Georgiades if we traded Jack now. Now is not the time to trade Jack. We don't know how well Oscar will come back next season.

we aren't trying to compete next season
we are endeavoring to build our next major assault

6, 24 and Tyler Brockman works perfectly. We need to bring in a small forward now that Rioli is off to save Hinkleys job.
I'd take that, with the view Brockman is steak knives/no expectation he comes good.

6 - should have plenty of good mids to consider: Phillipou, MacKenzie, Clark, Swybkoswki.

same height as JD and 9 years younger
why couldn't he put on the same size as Darling?

I see him as 2nd tall - as Darling has been his whole career with JK
switch in Oscar and MG - for the long run
Jack was always a physical beast. Also, Over the last nine years players have been getting taller. 192cm is too short for key position over the next decade unless you are next level freak.

Jackson being criminally underrated by some on here. Would do him for 2 in a heartbeat.
People keep saying that but you can only go with what's been presented and Jackson hasn't really set the world on fire. Actually don't think his underrated at all. If anything his overrated. Did absolutely nothing in finals and the last few games of the season. Come to think of it, he didn't do much all season to be going wow what a player.

I’d do that, as long as we keep 6 and don’t swap it for Jackson.

Entering the draft at 20 (will end up around 24 after FS picks and compo picks) would be a disaster.

Yes, my preference is to take the patient long term view. Use all of our draft picks in 2022 and 2023, then chase the likes of Logan McDonald and Tim English in free agency.

Was Jackson an eagles fan? Just read his quote from 2019 about his family going to eagles game, and him enjoying watching Nic Nat. Surely playing with Nic for a few seasons, and maybe having him as ruck coach beyond that, would be a big draw card, rather than playing under Sandi 2.0?

He is a freo but Nic Nat fan. I’m pretty sure his mum used to post on those Eagles th groups in the day

If Dunkley chooses to remain with the Dogs, or move to Brisbane, another way we can say a big f*ck you to Port will be to draft Phillipou

I am very confident that if Port retain their first round selection for this year, he will be the one they will take. He is highly rated out that way, a local boy, and they value him very, very highly

And he might just have the highest ceiling of any player in this years draft. Win/Win

Just on jackson his whole family is so cringe. His mum and brother all writing on the dee’s post and her making it sound like they made the decision to move

They sound a little controlling, I hope they aren’t milking the poor kid, obviously can’t judge everything from social media but they seem way too involved lol

Don't discount the Crows giving a future second for Rankin. They would also be into Phillipou and Suns would love another top 10 pick in 2023.

For those worried we about Jackson, the club has not spoken to him yet.

From the Herald Sun:

“We think we are well placed with a range of possibilities if we get the opportunity to trade for Luke,” O’Brien said.

“We can split selections to generate more. We have future selections. There’s player trades.

“We haven’t spoken to Melbourne yet at all. I’ll contact Tim Lamb (Melbourne list boss) in coming days and start working on that, but we also need to get in front of Luke and his management (TLA) to find out their position as well and put our case forward.

“Hopefully we can convince him we are the right club to come to.

“There is an air of confidence we can convince him and we can hopefully get a deal done.

“Opportunities like Luke don’t come along very often. So when they come along it would be remiss not to explore them and put our best foot forward.”

O’Brien said the Eagles have been talking to Jackson’s management all year about his future, and would look to arrange a meeting with him shortly.

West Coast would be unlikely to get involved in serious trade talks with Melbourne if it cannot speak with Jackson first about playing for the Eagles.

I'd be shocked if the club hasn't had some correspondence with his management, certainly wouldn't be picking up the phone to Melbourne if Jackson has made his decision already.

Eagles must think they are a shot going by these comments.

I have assumed all 2021 draftees (excl. Clark) are developing

Or to look at it another way
