Kobe ryan is more of a positional need for us with our last pick . We need a running defender with a good kick . He is quick and takes the game on . I would prefer cowan but I think he will be gone .

Keeler could be the next paddy ryder . He is a great mark and good below his knees . We develop talls well

I would rather pick 20 cowan pick 26 keeler but I don't think keeler will get past Adelaide 2nd rounder

All good I think I know what you have done, I suspect that you have mixed the two SA Ryans up.
Jakob Ryan is the Glenelg HBF run and carry very good defender, I like him a lot and have a late first to early second round grade on him at # 26 I would be very happy with that pick.
Jakob has played seniors for Glenelg and handled himself well.
He can play on smalls and tall's and plays taller than his height.
With the emphasis on attacking HBF with good foot skills he is an appealing prospect.

Kobe Ryan is the West Adelaide, midfielder / medium forward, he is the player I was surprised that you had him ratted at 26.
I have him pegged as a mid sized forward at the next level as he just doesn't have the strength to play as a mid at the next level.
Kobe has played seniors for West Adelaide and done quite well, he has his fans for higher duties, but for me I see better options.

Both have a mop of blondish hair that flops and flows about, so they at times do look alike.

Jakob was # 6 and Kobe # 8 in the championships so again the similarities are there.

On Keeler I agree he does have some Ryder traits and his best is as good as the best in this cohort, he IMO just needs to do it for longer periods in games, if he ever gets it all together ... then WOW he could be a star.

All the things you complain about are less of an issue if making good coin.

It’s a great city in your 20’s.
Absolutely it is. That’s why you have about 80 AFL players living in that Eastern Suburbs bubble. Many move to Sydney just for this attraction.

Just saying there are also many awesome things about Perth as well. It’s really no different to how some prefer Geelong over Melbourne.

There is always things going on behind the scenes whether that be talking to players about the possibility of coming to WC, or to clubs about trading of draft picks. Both these things will start to ramp up now.
Are there any clubs with list management teams you dread dealing with?

Conversely are there clubs with list management teams where our previous dealings has lead to fairer future discussions? I’m thinking of Sydney following the pick swap and back a few years ago.

Yep must have got the names mixed up . If its Jakob with the blonde mullet who was the running defender in the champs for SA its the one I'm keen on .

Thats him :thumbsu:

We’d be in a better position to strike a deal for Gold Coast’s 7 and Bowes than most… convincing Bowes to come here might be the issue though, however he’d just about be guaranteed game time, so we could leverage that.

That's what I thought but apparently not according to some on here in the know.
I only question it because it’s such a ludicrously one sided deal. Even by Gold Coast standards it’s bad

In order to take on Bowes contract they’ll not only give you a half decent player but ALSO pick 7 whilst asking for nothing in return. Nothing?

At the same time they’re likely asking Adelaide for pick 5 for Rankine. Why wouldn’t Adelaide be chasing Bowes and then tell the Suns we’ll take Rankine and Bowes and call it even.

Imagine the reaction on here if we put Gaff on the market offering pick 20 for someone to take him off our hands. By comparison the Suns are offering pick 7 plus a more marketable player at this stage of their respective careers

If that’s the deal Gold Coast should just be folded and their license given to Tasmania

How did it ever get to the stage that Jack Bowes wound up being owed $800k a season?

I know deals can be back ended but what, was he on $200,000 a year for the first two years of a four year deal? Because a player of his standing shouldn’t be on more than $2m (i.e $500k/pa) over a contract of that duration.

Gold Coast continues to be a basketcase.

They’ll be asking for stuff. They’ll aim for the best offer. Imagine ideally a low future second rounder next year at a minimum. North should be offering their priority pick they got

If Bowes is owed 1.6 mill then to North Melbourne he goes. No one else would commit that salary for him.

Adelaide wouldn't have 1.6 mill in salary cap space to do that deal unless they changed a few contracts. It would also hurt club culture a bit to have 2 guys on 800k plus rocking up

Ofc not, but you're paying for pick 7. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Would enable us to confidently take a risk on Wardlaw's hammies whilst still having another top ten pick.

As for fitting the $$$s in - we're on a downward trend, which up and coming superstar are we currently sweating on wondering how we will fit in his salary?
Besides which, I'd probably be expecting a total player payments bump soon. We can make it work, well worth it for pick 7 seeing as we need to replenish our youth.

Sign him for 4 years on $600k and all parties are happy IMO.

Salary cap and average wages are increasing and $600k is good money but not stupid money. Bowes get security and a longer deal, better earnings and better tax outcomes.

Have said this about Fold Coasts last 5 deals hoss, and yet here we are again.

I'd take the 1.6M salary hit for a first round pick + Bowes.

Essentially a free swing at the top end of a draft to kick-start our rebuild, and all it's costing is cap space for the next couple years. Perhaps a future pick as well.

Worth the risk. Bowes isn't a crab, he'd be best 22 for us and STILL falls into the ideal age bracket. Slice his salary after back after 2 years and there's more to like than dislike.

Pick 7 could send us home with both Cadman AND Philipou. Wouldn't mind that coming in for Parto.
