For maybe the first time ever, Fox Sports appear to be more bullish on our prospects in trade week than this forum:

"Even though Lobb is 29, he’s a 206cm key forward that’s contracted – and it’s a substantial contract at that – for next year and is coming off a career-best season where he topped the club’s goalkicking with 36 majors. So the Dockers would have every right to ask the Bulldogs for a first-round pick in return as a starting point."

"Then there’s Blake Acres, who wants to join Carlton. The 26-year-old was one of Freo’s most improved players this year and in All-Australian contention at the mid-way point of the season. But he’s uncontracted beyond this season – and happy to move after the Dockers’ contract offer to him was unsatisfactory for him. Would the Dockers be happy with a second-round selection from the Blues?"

"The Dockers are also set to lose two players to North Melbourne: Wingman Darcy Tucker and key-position utility Griffin Logue. Tucker is tied to Fremantle until the end of next season and out of the best 22, but the Dockers have indicated they’d be prepared to trade him if an appropriate trade offer from a rival was forthcoming. Logue, selected by Freo with Pick 8 six years ago, has been part of the Dockers’ best 22 this year, but isn’t contracted for next year.

The Dockers could ask North for second-round picks in return for both Tucker and Logue. The latter might even be worthy of a first-rounder considering his versatility.
" (wtf...)

I know this isn't the same as reporters pushing a narrative that they know what we're getting, but those bolded bits are the best value trades I've seen bandied about, here or anywhere else.

So those two free up what? 600k? And they want to bring in bruhn and Henry too. No way they can afford Bowes too...

I don't think you understand how it works in Geelong. The salary cap doesn't apply to them because the players are royalty and get looked after outside the cap, both while playing and in retirement.

I've got to say, the story of Jeremy Cameron temporarily losing his premiership medallion because he put it around the neck of one of his cows that then ran off with it is a pretty funny exemplar of the advantage Geelong also enjoy, notwithstanding their salary cap rorting. If you're a country boy that likes cows, you don't get that in downtown Richmond

Ridiculous if the other 17 AFL teams allow Geelong to grab that deal for Pick 7 and Bowes. At some point teams have to attack the Cats and their off-season plans..

Hi Guys I heard Adelaide not ready to give pick 5 for Rankine. They want to either split or get another first back. Can the following trade be of help? Or please tell which club/clubs is/are getting shafted.

BRISBANE GET DUNKLEY LOSE PICK 15
DOGS GET LOBB LOSE DUNKLEY
FREMANTLE GET JACKSON LOSE PICK 13 AND LOBB
MELBOURNE GET PICK 5 LOSE JACKSON
ADELAIDE GET PICK 15 AND RANKINE LOSE PICK 5
GOLDCOAST GET PICK 13 LOSE RANBKINE

On top of these, some 2nd round picks can be swapped or go in favour of some teams.

I doubt Gold coast will agree to this trade but with their salary cap can they match what Adelaide offering him?

That's fair enough though isn't it?

If Acres tears a hamstring or dislocates his shoulder at work he earns much less? A plumber, school teacher, etc wouldn't accept that, why should a footballer?

Your average plumber or school teacher shows up for the first two years of their employment though.

'Jack Bowes will depart Gold Coast in this year’s trade period as his salary reaches a bursting point.

Bowes is owed around $850,000 next year after having his salary pushed back multiple times in recent seasons.'

Gold Coast would want a future 2nd from just about every other club involved to build points for their academy players next year on top of 13.

I think all our players are worth more than that. I’m not even mucking around.

Wow similar to the Treloar situation. He had a heavily back ended contract and when it came time to pay the Pies forced him out.

lmfao second rounder for tucker
It was the collective of 2 x 2nds for Tucker and Logue. Given how early their two 2nds are that is very unlikely. It isn’t a 2nd for Tucker.

It will be something more like
PP 2nd, PP 3rd, 66 > Logue, Tucker, 72
15 > PP 3rd, Lobb
Meek, 66 > F3rd, 49
Acres, 49 > F2nd, 64

That puts us in the following position to start trading for Jackson.
2022 ND: 13, 15, 64, Fifth
2023 ND: 1st, PP 2nd (North), 2nd (Carlton), 2nd, 3rd (Hawks), 3rd, 4th

A reported pick swap with Port something like: 13, F 2nd, 64 > 8, 56

Now 2022: 8, 15, 56, Fifth and three future 2nds to work with.

Personally I’d look at a trade involving:
8, F2 (Carlton), F2 (Fremantle) > Jackson and 2022ND 2nd or 3rd (ie 32 [unlikely], possible end of 2nd round compensation for Jayden Hunt [37-39] or 41 [which could blow out to 44)

I think it's highly unlikely we trade lobb before the Jackson deal is complete. Once that's done there is zero incentive for us to trade him so dogs would have to pay up.

Some serious overrating of Blake Acres going on here. I’d like us to get more than an F3 but really the guy is worthy about pick 38 or 40 at best.
Most laughable is the people saying he was an AA wingman before his injury. Pull the other one - even Andy Brayshaw only made the bloody interchange bench!
He’s not much different to Jack Newnes to be honest and will play a similar role for Carlton next year.
We’ll be fine, I don’t know much about sharp but if he be trained can run both ways he will replace acres easily enough. Sharp has a booming kick - well over 50m too which is a welcome additional trait.

I think our systems, players are creating a winning environment.
Only Hogan was a bust, others have had their best year.
Pies thought Aish was rubbish, same for Acres, Brodie, Colyer.
Sharp has the height, 187cm, speed and stamina to be better.
I’d back us in to find another player👍
Interesting who has left that has excelled, besides Langdon who in my eyes
was already very good?
I thought Langdon was poo at Freo. Has very poor disposal. he'd break lines and run well, then turn the ball over which would hurt us badly as we'd all be offside.

What Melbourne have done smartly it seems is ask him to only kick it short, so he's not creating such a turnover risk. He's been much better coached at Melbourne.
