I'd be happy with Hewett and Buslinger. Doubtful Ginbey's ceiling is higher than Redden, who we got for a late first rounder.

Hewett's upside is huge I think. The step, the skill on both feet and now the agility numbers look great. Not worried about straight line speed. Rotham has that and is good for farkall.

Buslinger looks seriously agile and well balanced for 197cm. Either Gov or Barrass should be forward this year (if we had a competent coach) and I'd love to see Bazzo and Buslinger given games. Could be our key backs for a decade.

Well it's done now. I guess my preferences would be in order.

9 Mackenzie, Clark, Humphreys, Ginbey

(Ashcroft, Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Tsatas surely all gone which means we will get one of the above)

13 Hewett, Phillipou, Busslinger, Hollands

(Mackenzie, Clark, Humphreys, Jefferson, Ginbey should all be gone by now so should get one of the above)

23 Hustwaite, Hotton, Jones, Cowan, George

(Davey Jnr, Fletcher, Hayes, Konstanty should also be gone so good chance to get one of the above)

29 Allen, Keeler too hard too quess if will still be available.

I'm hoping that it goes relatively to plan but who the heck knows. God knows we love calling out that random pick that makes everyone stop and ask who?

I'm ok with the trade - good bit of business IMO.

2 of the best 12 draftees (4 of the best 26) is an excellent way to kick start our rebuild.

If we didn't see a clear number 2, then no issues dropping back in the draft.

Sure we could have gone Wardlaw and backed ourselves to retain him, but every chance our S&C mismanages his hammies & he requests a trade home after 2yrs for peanuts.

Same, I watched him live and wasn't overly impressed. Played an outside seagull kind of game and just jogged around most of the time, gave me Masten vibes.
Hope we haven't got our blinkers on and are just focused on the WA guys, there will be better players available at 8 than both of them imo and probably at 12 as well.

I don’t think we would have the blinkers on for WA guys. We had Johnson served up on a plate for us last year but took Chesser.

I feeling is that we’ll go for a vic kid at 9 or the Poo and then maybe Ginbey or Hewett at 13. It’s not totally out of the realms one of them could make to 21. No way we would have thought a Johnson would last to the second round this time last year.

I was tempted to melt but tbh the outcome of the trade all hinges on the drafting choices.

They've given themselves a higher chance of a successful draft, but if we draft another two Duggans it's cooked

6 hours later and I'm still pissed about this trade. 8 & 12 is f**kin bulls**t for pick 2 and we should've kept pick 40 (we could've used it to trade up or draft an extra player).

Liam Duggan had a poor year (by our standards perhaps?) - he finished 5th in the B&F - but he also struggled all year with injury - plenty were happy to anoint him our next skipper before Tom Barrass had a purple patch.

Let’s not throw him in the ‘do not want’ basket just yet.

But yes, ‘2 Duggans’…or it could have been ‘1 McDougall’ - or a Josh Schache (Pick 2) or a Paddy Dow (Pick 3) or even a Hardly Been-well! (Pick 2).

Just have to back in the club no matter what pick it is because being a talent at 17 is one thing but there’s still a load of hard work, good training and luck involved in them becoming good players. 👍🏻

No point melting until we get some hindsight on this trade/draft period. This could be our Geelong 2001 moment, or (insert other team...can't be feked googling).

18 or 19 for our F2? They might just do it because everybody assumes it is going to be very low. This may be a bad idea (because next year draft crop is supposed to be better) but we can fast track the rebuild with 8, 12, 18/19, 20 and 26. Could add George, Jones and Keeler if 8 and 12 are fixed on other players.

It really does shyte me that we accept a little unders when we trade out playes yet have to overpay to trade in players.

Stiffed on the ebert trade
Stiffed on the rioli pick downgrade trade
Burned on the kelly trade
Having to pay pick 18 for wellingham
Even going back to bringing in chick and stenglein.
We should've held our ground with TK.
We were too desperate to get him and we were ripe for the picking since we were so eager to get the deal done.

Daniel McConnell & 18 to Norf for 13 & 29 in 2005 was a good one for us tho. Netted us Hurn and the legendary Ben McKinley.
