My heat says we should reward Meek for playing his role and not complaining and let him go to be a #1 ruck elsewhere as he’s too good for WAFL. Plus we should hold Lobb just to send a message to Young to stop being a campaigner.
My head is the opposite though, Lobb won’t be here after next year and is worth more now on the trade table, Meek fits our age bracket and deserves more game time.
If we can extract Bris F1 for Lobb and Carlton F3 then we have the flexibility to trade the rest of our picks on draft night to get the player we want.
Lobb + Carl F3 for Brisbane F1.
NMF3 for Sharp (take it or leave it GC)
Go to draft with 44,67,76 if Allan still there at pick 20 start offering NMF2 to every club who is about to pick until either Allan is gone or we get a taker.

If the rumoured switch to 5 players on the interchange happens then I can definitely see us playing Darcy and Meek every week.

Playing Meek, Darcy and Jackson is comical. Dead set, I hate it more than I was opposed to getting Jackson. Even if it goes to 5 on the bench that just makes it worse, since other clubs will have an extra runner. The only thing Jackson currently does well is ruck follow up, which he is never going to do because he'll never be playing ruck.

Also, Meek's gone from exploring a trade, to us saying we want a 2nd, to him requesting a trade. That tells me the Hawks are willing to cough up.

Trade the dude so he can have a proper career.

So Melbourne.
Out.
Hunt, Jackson, weideman, Bedford.
Wanted out
Harmes, Tomlinson

Likely out next year
Pickett, rivers

In
Grundy (who took some convincing)

Something stinks over there. How many more years of protection do they get from scrutiny from the flag year?

Also LOL at that article saying the Pies will hold Grundy if they don't get what they want. Go on then...
Pies filling their side with b-graders. Love it.

Yeah I’m not sure about that.
5 on the bench allows an extra tall, a back rotation and 3 runners

Their list is like ours. It’s the new world, players want to move more for money, opportunity & other reasons.

I wouldn’t be concerned if I was a Melbourne fan. Jackson the only one that will hurt.

I will laugh so hard if Brisbane offering F1 and #21 for Dunkley needs our later picks to make it work and F1 and #21 comes straight to us for Lobb.

Dunkley out of contract is worth more than Lobb, but Freo also had to push in more value to get it across the line.

Meek playing next season either maintains his value as seen externally (which is 4th round pick) or it significantly improves it, even out of contract.

Love your optimism, but there’s no way we get BF1 + 21 for Lobb, even with our NMF2 on the table

We have 2 rucks on our list now so it aint risky at all

Benning is also already 1 year into that 4 year development

Jackson simply takes Meeks spot on the list

I don't see Jackson taking Meek's spot on the list, he will be playing in the AFL side, which means he has his own role. If Darcy is injured then the entire top team has to reshuffle to accommodate moving Jackson to that ruck role.

If Meek is there, he just comes straight in without any other player needing to play differently.

If we don't have Meek we have to start thinking about moving a midfielder or forward into a makeshift ruck position.

I'd rather draft a ruck this year, keep Meek, play Meek as required and able, then trade him next season.

Or we trade Meek and bring in Free as a rookie to be ruck depth for a couple of years.

Pick 21 is about right for Lobb.

It's just whether we think we're a premiership chance not year. If not pick 21 and games into Amiss/Treacy will be of greater benefit long term
We won't get Lobb's goals from Jackson up forward, but we might gain a few from the middle with him instead and I think Amiss could easily crack 25-30.

Really need Tabs to stay fit though, which is the scariest part.

Nah. It's unders for a player who you say you're not going to trade. After taking such a hard stance only a first rounder is acceptable.
