Everybody says Roo.
Magnificent player as we all know. But does that automatically make him a good coach?
A couple of times a week in an advisory capacity for the forwards maybe, but let’s not get carried away with the fact that because he’s a legend he can/ or would want to coach. He spends a fair amount of time in the States anyway.

First time in history the majority are in agreement ( and excited about) a decision the club has made ( Ratts) and potentially will make (Ross).
I remember getting Ratts in as assistant coach and then giving Richo the ass half way through the season was pretty well celebrated here.

Sorry but I can't agree with that. The first bit - yes, the second bit - meh ....
Well I did say the majority ( according to the posts on here) never said it was 100%.
Sounds like Fox will be doing the cash in the brown paper bag under the table trick or a variation thereof.
About time our club did it too 😉

Yeah I Cottoned On to that plan too. 😉

I wonder if we could see a Dal Santo style resurgence from Hunter Clark under a coach like Ross?

I seem to remember Nick being labelled lazy on-field, not working hard enough off-field, and not fulfilling his potential early in his career.

…either that or he will fold like a cheap suit.

This.

I’m almost certain now that it’s RTB returning to the club.

Can he drill the disciplines into players like Clark, and players like Gresham? Can he take them to the next level? I’m adamant a coach like him can.

Can he turn the duo of Higgins and Butler into the new age Milne and Schneider. Wilkie into the next Fisher, Cordy into the next Dawson. Coffield into a player like Goddard was.

Maybe over the top comparisons. But there’s so much crap talk about no A-Graders on our list, when I reckon they are there, but just not realising their true potential. We need a coach that can unlock that

We tried to replicate Stephen Wells during Ross’ last reign.

And John Peake was an absolute disaster.

Wasn't he here 2006 to 2010? was drafting from 2007 to 2010 drafts?

2007 McEvoy, traded second rounder for Schnieder and Dempster, Jack Steven at 42.
2008 Tom Lynch, Traded for Farren Ray, Rhys Stanley at 47, Heyne and Alistair Smith.
2009 Winmar his biggest fail after trading in Lovett, traded for Jesse Smith from North, Will Johnson, Miles. Hutchings, Archer and Tommy Walsh on the rookie list.
2010 Cripps at 24, Crocker, Ledger, Siposs, traded in Gamble, Polo, Simpkin. Rookie Curren.

To me it was the years after him that were where we stuffed up. 2011 to 2018 were the Trout years. Not much came of those.

I dont like the idea of Gallagher moving away from Melbourne and doing his job from Adelaide, but I dont see why Jason Cripps is seen as the List Manager saviour?

Port havent won a flag in his time there, and TBH his approach as a List Manager doesnt appear that different to Gallagher's. He has and Port have traded away early picks to remain relevant and yes he has had some hits but a lot of misses aswell.

It wasnt Gallagher's fault that we couldnt attract De Goey or other fringe players to the club during the trade period. Ratten got the sack for a reason and I believe this is one of his leading short comings.

To me the List Manager role is only as good as the club resources, the coaching structures and how the club is perceived in the industry. Gallagher is just coming into his own IMO and move him on now when there is finally some light in our recruiting etc is self defeating.

So unless the review has found issues with Gaggs I for one would love for him to remain!

If Luff came in and said "the list is better than what you're getting out of it" I don't get why Gags would be on the chopping block. But if he wants to move back to SA then maybe he will be on a reduced role and we are looking for a new head of list management.
