What is your thoughts on who you think the Bombers will trade out said pick with and what they will expect to get regards to pick swaps?
If they do trade out 25 the result will be better than them using 25 and a bid coming a pick or 2 later efectively giving them 2 picks prior to our 2nd rounders.
For the record Dodoro did state last night they expected to use the pick
Hine and Twomey both said last night that clubs will be looking to trade their F2 for a pick in the 20's. So Bombers will just take the best F2 on offer in exchange for pick 25, leaving them with just enough points to match a West Coast Davey bid.

Obviously they'd prefer to pick at 25 before matching, and they've only got to have GWS, WCE and WBD pass on Davey to achieve that. But even in worst case, they'd be pretty happy to get out of this draft with Tsatas, Davey x 2 and potentially Munkara, plus a F2.

Why are you worried about his knees specifically? Most players recover well from ACL’s eg Petracca.

I’m not well-read enough on George’s history specifically, but I understand he has had two separate knee injuries, and the second one happened in his first game back after recovering from the first?

I was just told that one player we might be interested in later is a guy by the name of Tom Mccallum, To be honest I'm not sure if we are interested in taking him but I know we have interviewed him
Good underated Tasmanian defender 192cm. A bit like Weedle with worse kicking.

I believe he had a meniscus injury to his ??? knee and in his second game back he did the ACL in his left knee in a marking contest.

5 games, 2 weeks concussion, 8 weeks meniscus, 1 game, ACL season over

If a bid comes for Davey by GWS at 22 and Munkara @ 41ish (1005 points), they won't have enough points remaining to match a bid with only 54, 61, 66 (435 points) to bid with after trading out 25 for a future second as you suggest. In this scenario there would be a 570 point deficit.

If the Bombers trade out pick 25 for a future 2nd as suggested, then they go further into deficit to the tune of 1415 points.
If anything they will need to give up a future pick, not take one from another club
If GWS bid at 22, that'll cost 676 points (80% of 845). If Bombers have traded out 25, they'll use 49, 54 and 59 (665 points) to match. 11 point deficit - bugger all.

If they are able to match a Munkara bid ( after pick 40), they will just need to use their next available selection (which will be in the 60's or 70's after dropping to the back after the bid match)

Confused how they have the points to match a bid on Munkara at 41ish with a pick in the 60's or 70' as suggested
Essendon's problem will be a bid on Munkara (or Davey) before 40 - they'll have to pay for that.

Can't believe how excited I was to see us select Allen - I've been on him since 7/11 - potential for a great 1:2 combination over the next 10 years with Naics. Wanted Jones with our 2nd - would be happy with any of the remaining Poster's Choice players that were nominated for our first (Hayes, Hustwait, Keeler, George, Hotton, Barnett) - get the feeling that the Swans might take Barnett at 27 - would be great to get Hayes at our 28 and Keeler at 30. For our last pick, Scully or Lemmy would be awesome: potential to have the fundamentals for our spine and midfield for the next 10 years from one draft.
Wonder if North would swap 26 and 28 so we get ahead of Swans for Barnett?

Not sure they can simply trade back in the draft - there'd need to be something else in that deal, e.g., 26 and 56 for 28 and 47 - otherwise, the AFL may see it as draft tampering

Still some Good Talent on the board with:

  • Ryan
  • Barnatt
  • George
  • Cowan
  • Clarke
  • Hotton
  • Keeler
  • Lemmey
  • Scully

Who would you pick Dave?

I'm still keen on Hayes as that tall defender, or Barnett as a developing Ruck given we off loaded Grundy. But your right still a lot to look forward to with tonight's picks.

I think Allen sliding to our pick would have been unexpected.

This covers it pretty well:

Hayes
Barnatt
Lemmy
Keeler

But Not Mind Cowan/Ryan/Hotton

Thanks mate. Having read that now, I think we should take a shot at him, as I’ve said repeatedly we should be drafting for ceiling and George coupled with a Keeler, Barnett, Cowan or Clarke would be ideal.

Van Es at 196cm and 97kg, with 3 top 10 finishes in the combine, and no obvious deficiencies in his highlights seems the forgotten man.

Keeler I agree, has the X factor advantage but attitude is the risk.

But why are Lemmey and Hayes, better options than Van Es?
.
My own thoughts:

I like Van Es but the knocks are he is similar to Nathan Brown (Ex. Coll/Stk version) that he is a stopper first and rebound/attack second.

In saying that I believe Van Es has the ability to develop this, his kicking is better that Nathan Brown's. Decision making is questionable.

Hayes has greater exposure on his rebound which pushes him higher.
Lemmey is only rated higher by some. KPF are more valueble than KPD.

With us landing Allan I would doubt that we would be in the frame for a Hustwaite type now.

Hoping for a tall like Hayes or Barnett next. If we end up trading out one of the 2nd rounders for a future 2nd I gather we would be hoping a Joe Richards type might get to our last live pick.
