I have a gut wrenching feeling despite all the hype over JHF that next year will be similar to this year where mediocrity reigns supreme.

The father figure stuff is such bs. What are we an orphanage? How about someone who can actually coach and instructs more than work harder.
Are we sprouting being a betta human, father figure, Geelong players rate him, cultcha cultcha cultcha because we have nothing else to show for the last decade ?

JHF isn't going to solve the issues that existed this year just by turning up. The same mental frailty that permeates through the club will still be there, the same inept coaching strategy and lack of awareness will be there (along with the greyhound syndicate), we'll still find a way to lose big games at home, we'll still find a way to momentarily challenge before ultimately losing to a top 8 side (or outright not turn up), and we'll still put bad teams away by virtue of them being bad teams... Season 2023 is just going to be another season treading water before the club has no choice but to sack Hinkley

We exist to be mediocre

Prediction: We will continue being frustrated with another wasted oppportunity and will spend most of the year living in fear of another extension.

Surely the ultimate gaslight was last year's "premiership or bust" declarations? I wonder what we'll get this year...
You know that fire in the belly we lost? Well the good news is that we've found it again.

It’s a decade and a week since the 2012 Draft.

Imagine someone from the future pulling your coat that night (22/11/12) and quietly informing you that yet-to-debut Hinkley would still be here in ten years, our first pick that night would be too — with a Brownlow in his pocket — and Travis Boak would still be ticking along as a beloved 300-gamer.

“How many premierships do we win?!”, you’d ask, scarcely able to contain yourself…

Being a father figure might've been a great selling point in the olden days for coaches, with players coming from all sorts of situations, but now most players are private school types from stable environments and supportive family structures, we do not need a father figure. We need a coach.

Don't forget Chad Wingard was set to explode beyond wildest imaginations

Also 'Chad Wingard (just coming off his first year) will be All Australian in 2 of the next 3 years' ...

Even on the draft coverage last night they managed to slip in a comment about what a great coach Hinkley is right before we took our first pick.

The mythology around this guy rivals the Kim Dynasty.

It’s the most baffling casually-accepted groupthink since circa 2004-6 when a shockingly large number of commentators, analysts and fans just crowned Jonathan Brown as the premier forward in the comp because “he’s got three premierships”, with literally no other runs on the board (0 x AA, 0 x B&F’s, 0 other individual medals, a season high goal tally of 39 in his first 7 seasons).

Who was the premier forward then? Gherig? Matty LLoyd or Scotty L?

Even some of the articles and media discussion since the end of the season has referenced how strongly Port Adelaide finished the year. I must have been watching something else. I saw four consecutive losses before a couple of soft wins against the 14th &15th placed teams on the ladder.

I mean ok but at least he won three premierships.

Hinkley has 132 games as a player across two clubs, and a further 221 games as a coach without a single flag. That's 0 from 19 seasons.

I'd take Brown as a forward over Ken as a coach any day of the week.
