Whilst there is delight at our draft crop. Hewett and Ginbey will be tracked to Wardlaw / Sheezel for the next 5 years.
Why comparing to both Sheezel & Wardlaw? We could have only selected one of them.

If you’re going to add in extra names you might as well add in Tsatsas & Clark who we were noted as having interest in at 2 and could have chosen had we not traded down.

All come to the clubs now on level footing, draft position will mean nothing if you aren’t prepared to put the work in. I’m quite confident that whatever happens both Reuben & Elijah are going to give it a red hot crack.

BOND 007

Congratulations to you and the team for an excellent draft period.

May I ask, was Sam Gilbey in contention for one of our late or rookie picks? Or was the broken leg too much of a concern?

Seems like a quality kid with some excellent attributes.

His name was mentioned as were others - many great kids. Unfortunately clubs have a set number on their list

Just going to get in early and ask why our recruiting team loves brutish meatheads when the team is so desperately crying out for some silk and composure.
Hewitt, Chesser, Dewar, Long, Cobes and the new ruck guy seem to have some silk and composure.
Brutish meatheads (love the term!) as you know have their place and are needed as extractors and tacklers and general mongrelising -if they have pace and skills even better!
Otherwise not everyone can help the way they look, but they can improve their looks and a mullet is often a poor choice albeit a current trend? ((;

The brief was for midfielders. Ryan no - George maybe.

Thanks. I take you mean a literal maybe re George? That is, it still would have been a toss up?

I'm also interested in the Hewett case. It seemed possible at one stage he'd even make it to our third pick. Was that ever considered likely? Were we always going to pounce if he got through to 12? How high did we have him compared to other first-round mid options that went just before?

You need both. We need to start winning contested football. You need the extractors to start moving it to the outside

This interview with O’Brien on Mark Duffield’s show would indicate we were always going to take Hewett with our 2nd pick and whilst confident he’d be there weren’t certain of it

Doubt we considered waiting to our 3rd pick

WC have never really played cute at the draft. Want a player then draft him at your selection & don't run the risk. Considerable interest in Hewitt in the late teens

Well unless Port are throwing free future 2nds at you to move back a couple of spots
