What are you implying?
Good question AC. Plenty of young people viewing the Grand Canyon when I was there. Many of them sitting out on ledges with a vertical drop of over a kilometer directly below them. Medium age for Phoenix is 33.8 compared with the US as a whole which is 38.1 which reinforces my observation of the place. Regardless, what is wrong with older people living somewhere? They are often more asset rich and have been around enough to see various places and expereince life and so make informed decisions on what is desirable. They are often more secure within themselves as well as less naivie and so not just influenced by a herd mentality or as susceptible to pop culture.

I’d trade in the A grader if possible

Day ( he’s a watch re his midfield form this year )
Phillipou ( Obvs need to watch too )

Either of them my preference

If not possible there is FA and options to move up draft order with future 1st pick

Our draft hand looks pretty good , especially given the future 1st pick potentially in play getting ahead of Welsh bid

2023 draft is fascinating , lots of bottom agers had great seasons last year but were mainly on flanks , be interesting to see who jumps up in midfield
If Day shows a good amount of midfield form this year I’d offer him huge $$

A player like him IMO is the last missing midfield piece of our youth

So you've ruled out any of our current crop of midfielders becoming elite. Big call and quite ironic, given the orgasms you've had in this thread calling out Vader's early thoughts on Fogarty.

In any event, we've proven over the past 2 seasons we can trade in talent. I'm not sure why you think drafting is the only method of obtaining elite talent.
Oh right, we've already got an elite midfield corp, all drafted without the investment of resources. It never happens, but did for us.

My position is entirely consistent with the vindicated position I took on Fogarty: not all players are created equal, you must identify, acquire, prioritise and develop players with elite potential above those who do not have it, not that everyone gets an equal go in the hope they might make it.

How often do elite mids move clubs? We lost one, who else?

Soligo reminds me so much of Ben Cousins, big call but I think he’s going to become our best player in a few years time.

Genuine A grade mid potential, how did he slip through so much? He even played a little for Richmond VFL!
Dougie went on record saying Soligo would be a better player than JHF. Riches from later in the draft, eh?

Yeah..

I though we needed to add atleast two more pieces to that midfield puzzle..

Now I reacon just one more will do it.

One elite big bodied midfielder added and we’ll be sweet.

And yes… a decent ruckman needs to be a priority.
May need a quality key defender too.

The young guys have had a good preseason, but credit where it's due to the coaches for having Laird with two young guys with points of difference for most of the preseason.

It really has changed the midfield and is lights year better than the Laird, Crouch Keays Sloane mids we've been going with the last few years.
If Laird improves anymore this year he will go from A grader to elite

Perennially underrated around here that’s for sure

Yeah? I was referring to the Don Pyke era. Post I replied to was using FOG as an example to argue against said selection policy in Don Pyke era where FOG was not played, which Vader is seemingly a proponent of. Context.

As an aside, why include Max Michaelanney, he hasn't played a game. (Practice matches don't count).
I’d say Max is firmly in mix for round 1 , did you rate his job on Ryan ?

I was just messing with him, hard to offend me really.

But you are absolutely right regarding your information and observations. When pandemic forced me to do a professional reboot—I decided to try Arizona.

Was in Phoenix for a year before settling in southeastern Arizona. There is zero question in my mind that Arizona will be a hub of business and entertainment in the USA.

I think there already has been a shift from Ohio/Michigan/Western PA in terms of economic power to the southwest.

I agree. Players now want to come to the Crows. Who knows who might be next. Even apart from that Soligo has been mentioned, but there is also Rachele. We won't know for some time exactly what his upside is but I saw a few things last night were very encouraging from him.

He was already into that elite category in the 2nd half of last year I reckon. Hits the scoreboard quite regularly now, which I thought was the last part of his game needed to really push into the top echelon of mids. One of the top clearance players in the game too, just reads the ball so well. Would be shocked if he isn’t an AA mid this year and definitely in Brownlow contention.

His kicking was an issue at times, but I feel very comfortable when he has ball in hand now.

Murray a weak link? I loved his game last night. Killed a few marking contests with good spoils and was involved in a few of our attacking plays. Butts much better than last week too.
i dont see him as having the weapons needed to be the 2nd lockdown KPD

So we don’t get any benefits to a player in our academy?

We do, but it's under specific circumstances. One being they're a 3rd round pick onwards and there are some awkward definitions to indigenous NGAs as well.

It's more for the Newchurchs of this world and not the Kellers unfortunately.

You mean the guy who's rocking a sub 15% contested one on one loss rate? The one who's already got a decent highlight reel of contested marks? Booming long kick? Uber-aggressive? That guy?

That'll age just as bad as my calls on Fogarty a couple of years back.
