A few tipping Melbourne for the flag - will be shi##y if BG wins flag this year
Maybe who knows certainly have a list good enough too,I wonder if Grundy would hand his medal back after all he did say a flag will not define me maybe he changed his tune now . Most players would bust their arse to win a flag not Brodie he came up with "A flag will not define me" that is as good a reason as any too moved him on right there.

It could be worse… imagine if Carlton won it!

You should be burned at the stake for even thinking thoughts like that, seriously though I hoped to see the day when we get ahead of them and that other mob of cheats with 16, I am 65 now and goodness know,s I would love to see it before I am gone.

Few things would be as silly as defining yourself by a footy premiership. Life's a bit bigger than that.

Far too many people seem to forget that.

In the end I wish Brodie all the best, I don't wish for his team to have success and all....but I wish for him to have a decent career and decent life post football once that time comes.

I already think we’ll go backwards. The draw is tougher for us even with the inclusions we’ve made. I’ve stated in the ladder thread that we’d probably finish 5th as an optimistic position. But anywhere between 5th-8th is highly likely. And I’d still be pleased. Not making the top 8 would be seen as a poor season. Especially with what happened last year.

But like last year, I’ll be hopeful and grateful for everything I see from our players. As long as everyone is on the same page and we have a singular focus.

I’m finally in a place that I can see that those in control of our football department are only interested in winning Premierships. That they see things that we’ve all been seeing. And they’ll try their very best to enable our group of players to produce their very best. And if it is good enough we’ll win. If it isn’t we won’t.

At least we’ve seen from last season that anything is possible. And that every little thing matters in winning games and being the best you can be for the team matters.

That none of the usually suspects on here will admit that we went on a tear from the time Soy Boy lost his status in the team. And the boys that took over were greatly appreciated by their mates for putting their heads down and bums up and getting on with their jobs at hand.

Fly’s rendering the harsh reality to Soy Boy was no secret. Only maybe to the many nay sayers and the blissfully naive on here. His aloofness and distant nature were glaringly obvious. And it showed is his own stats padding. What was good for Soy Boy wasn’t naturally what was good for the Pies or our following midfielders. And that’s why he had to go. If Fly wanted him, he would still be here.

Based on ladder position, this year's draw is barely harder than last years. They are actually remarkably similar.

Nathan Buckley on going overseas on his first holiday.
"I realised their is more to life than just football."

It's just another sport to make enjoyed viewing.
Last year was the ultimate for me.
I still reckon we were the best team and the best to watch.
All my friends and family that hate Collingwood were saying the same.

game plan>>>>>>>>>>>than Grundy's absence - in explaining our success in 2022

So what you’re saying is that Cameron and Cox applied the game plan much much much better and we’re much much much better at it than Soy Boy.

In Soy Boy’s 6 games he was only able to muster 3 wins and 3 losses giving him a 50% strike rate. Where as Cox And Cameron went on to have a 12-1 record in the home and away taking us all the way to 4th spot. That’s a massive 92% strike rate.

So using your own vernacular so that you can better understand the real situation.

JB, do you ever think of the children before you spout this commie stuff ?

Comrade, you really think that the revolution has a place for such a bourgeois notion as 'childhood'?

There'll be time enough for garbled conversations and dribbling when we're in an aged care facility and smiling about the soft and mushy feeling we've just created in our pants.

Question to Tom Hafey - "is football a matter of life and death for you Tom"?

TH - "oh no, it's way more important than that"
Always thought that was a Vince Lombardi quote but looking it up it was Bill Shankley Liverpool coach.

Here are a few others. Seems he wasnt fond of Everton

I was aware that Tom "borrowed" the quote - but it fits Tom perfectly

Illogical nonsense.

So we had good perfirmance in 2018 finals because our key backs were injured.

Correlation is NOT causation.

You can have a point of view, and that fine but at least try to make a decent argument.

But the two rucks in Cox and Cameron played well throughout that period of success. It's not as if the wins were in no way connected to their output. They were not the only reason for our success but I think the two as a combination worked better than Grundy and Cameron did. Cameron grew into the role with more responsibility and Cox relished the chance to move away from the permanent forward role.

It's a strange fact that we beat the team with the best ruckman in the comp and recently premiers off the back of his outstanding performance three times in two seasons without Grundy. The boys certainly filled Grundy's shoes more than satisfactorily.

Gawn got injured in the first IIRC.

Cameron and Cox bopth had some good moments but plenty of non impact. Cox had a LOT of time of the pine, coaching team often made the judgement we where better off with Cox off the ground.

Yeah using two players to equate to the impact of one isnt a fair or reasonable comparison. How did one of them performance againt Grundy;s level?

Neither was consistent elsewhere and both cannot play in the ruck. Cox kicked all of 7 goals last year.
Last year Cox took 29 contested makes in 18 games, 2021 Grundy 20 in 20. A contested mark aorund teh ground at best,

Neither cox or cmaron are as good luck and neither is remotely close around the ground.

Well, Fly thinks the two C's are doing well. He wanted Grundy gone.
I'll go with his view on this.
Ruckmen are all overrated unless they bag some goals when resting forward.
Grundy is not better than either of them at doing this.
Their equal at best.

I’m not too sure many clubs will be adopting our “lose the hit-outs and lose the clearances” model that apparently (according to 1 poster anyway) elevated us above Grundy’s contribution pre-injury.

Can you post a link to McRae actually saying that.

It's an overrated stat. We have been smashed in centre clearances for years as have the Tigers who have won three flags in four years. Cox and Cameron did great work in defense, up forward and around the ground which heavily influenced the outcome of games.

We went within a whisker of a flag in 2018 and within a point of another grand final while being smashed in centre clearances.
