People laugh when I say it but the fact he barely uses the headset on the pine is proof he's not heavily involved tactically gameday.

It looks like the players like him down there from an ecouragement/reinforcement aspect, there's no longterm future in it though his boundary line Daddy role will grow as stale as his coaches box zombie act eventually..

100%.

It looks pretty obvious Josh Carr is now running the show from the coaches box and making Hinkley look good. Port will extend Ken, Carr will take a senior job elsewhere, and Hinkley will once again be exposed for the complete dud he is with no Josh around doing all the lifting for his sorry ass.
Interesting that hinkley has made changes to his coaching presentation. Besides the scene been some good dialogue and change Imo. To have a chance for 2024 had to be a reinvention. yes the power balance seems to have changed for the better. A couple of posters have before stated that his people skill would be a positive in a modified role. Interesting to watch how this evolves while enjoying our team effort.

Agree, think it has a limited time span even though it's been very effective. Just can't see how the club can manage it in the long term to keep the key coaching personnel happy.

This whole narrative coming from the media now that "Ken is coaching beautifully". *ing LOL... he's basically doing the Choco at the demons role

Jon Ralph gushing that Port is playing a “super brand of footy”.

Our wins have a bit of a 2018 11-4 feel to it atm. They're definitely playing for him. Funny how this has all come after an overdue kick up the ass. Funny what some pressure and accountability can do. Feels like we've seen this all before. We may bomb out in another EF or SF, by that time Ken would have his 2 years and have retreated back to his box mindlessly sucking his coke back.

I still remember watching the news one night in 2011 and seeing the reports of Port having ran out of money completely, and if not for SANFL and AFL handouts, the club would have folded that year.
Mate , the SANFL weren't saviours. They were bleeding us dry and extracting their pound of flesh - their priority was to prop up their third-rate comp over seeing Port be successful in the AFL.

I honestly thought Port were going to fold back then that's how bad things were, and I'm sure no one wants to see another club die after seeing the demise of Fitzroy.

Even in our tarps era we were drawing three times the crowd of GC and GWS and bigger crowds than perennial Victorian minnows like North and St. Kilda. There's no way we were going to fold before at least 5-6 other clubs did, i.e. never.

Hinkley is playing an expensive cheerleader roll on the bench. Could just give that to a random member and one of us could do just a good of a job of slapping the players on the ass and telling them good job.

Hinkley is a player manager not a coach. 11 years later?
