We are doing it backwards. We shouldn't kill off the rest of the list for it unless we are bottoming out again. We should work out what we want to do most years and then do the opposite and see how it turns out.

Dow is not even an Emergency in the team this week.




Only 10 games this season.

Only 4 the year before . 2 as an unsused substitute.


I think Dow knows where he is in the pecking order at the Blues.

We need to aim to get better. We should be aiming to go into the top four, we've been yo-yoing for years we've now seen what we are capable of. Address the deficiencies via trade, draft and on the training track and take another step forward in 2024.

Enough of the mediocrity. 2023 needs to be a stepping stone.

It was a biceps femoris injury which is a hamstring. I’m assuming yours was the biceps brachii tendon near your elbow which as you said happens most commonly in males 35-55 years of age.

Id rather 2 chances in the first round than one and Gresham had the pressure put on him this year and failed - and after 8yrs on the list I doubt he can do a Sinclair because he can't kick and is slow.

We don't need another 30 year old with injury issues of his own though. Having a midfield of 4 guys 28 plus (3 of them 30) is just going stunt the growth of younger mids.

Spot on. We need to be getting thee younger guys through the midfield now while we still have Crouch and Steele near their best, and Ross on the list.

We can't be giving more time to 30 year olds. As they are retiring, King will be hitting his peak age and we need to get the midfield minutes into the kids now so they will be ready to peak at that time.

Look at Shiels stat's for last year...they stack up. Much rather pay up for hi s salary for a year than increase the rest of the squad like we did 6 years ago and have 3 years of waiting to see if we got it right.

Shiel will deliver the ball deep into the forward line by his long flat kicks..better than anyone we have on our list.

Frankly I have always thought he was an overpaid pretender even at GWS but for a year or two makes sense.

Bombers are a shit show and can understand underperformance by some players....Shiel may be one of those.

If he gets us another high pick that works if we can turn that into pick 5 great otherwise take two mid teen picks so be it. We need to refresh the list and the Shiel deal starts that process as Gresh is not the answer.

I'll back Lyon to maximise what ever he has in front of him but we aren't building for a flag anytime soon IMO. Not really sure we have a clear idea on where we are going again. I guess I'll take what ever s**t we dish up and we'll be back there again next year.

I think this is being very ignorant to our predicament.

Ross is ageing. He's had a bunch of soft tissue injuries but we looked better with him in the side.

And the reason why we looked better is because the kids are still a while off or aren't capable.

Pou is not going to be able to spend a full season in the middle as a full time inside mid.

Clarke is absolutely *in useless in there and clearly isn't up to having full time minutes in there.

Owens and Windhager are developing sure they'll get more minutes but they can't run a whole season in there.

The cupboards ******* bare. We need a stop gap solution for 12-24 months. Which gives us time to develop and draft.

Some might argue at the margins & fair enough - but logic - like it!

Some might not agree but looks like SoS and Gubby are trying to go left field and think laterally (Gringo I hear you re our track record!) but we don’t try and improve we are dead in the water!

Not an exact quote but RTB said we don’t want to leave Owens, NAS, Windy and Pou stranded - we want to surround them with young quality to build something that can compete for silverware - like it!!!

I don't have a clue , but we know they need a elite mid and the chances are better in the top 5, unless they have found a couple hidden gems that we can get with lower picks.

How is taking Shiel for one year and at the same time bringing in another first round draft pick gambling?

A broken-down Hanners on a huge salary and 5 year contract was gambling.

I think what we see is what we get with Gresh. Can’t see him improving a whole lot more.

I think this is a considered risk and one we have to take if we want to improve the list. One mid- first round draft pick a year is going to get us nowhere fast.

Windsor or Darcy Wilson for our pick 12. If we get pick 13 from Gresh FA, Ollie Murphy as a key defender is a shout. Think Charlie Edwards will slide to the second round and could still be there by the time our pick for Dougal/Coffield comes in or even at 31. Really want Tholstrup though, think he'll be a star.

Yep I’m cold on Dow - BUT - I was cold on Stocker - if they can develop him to the same extent then certainly worth it!

You are trading guys who have been in our best 10 players. Most are unlikely to get a player back as good. Howard cost us a fortune not long ago. Doesn’t give me much faith. All cost us first round picks too. Why is this hand in a shit draft going to improve on that? It’s a gamble. Our immediate and future success is in the hands of these guys.
