Pick 39 from the dogs for Henry

Maybe we can use 39 and 34 to trade up or something? (hopefully). 39 sounds a bit low but I'm not sure how much bargining power Freo have here.

Really want to take 13 and 21 to the draft unless something crazy happens.

I'd just stick with our 2nd or pick from Coffield for Henry. Seems about fair for uncontracted player who is being traded on potential.

If that doesn't get it done then so be it. At some point we need to quit the kowtowing to Bell & Adrian, wrestle back a teeny bit of self respect.

That there was no chance stkilda was receiving a first round compo pick for Gresham unless we took Shiel and gave the pick back to them

Took one for the team. Well done George.

For the record getting a full back with injury issues and a mid/fwd that can't kick over 40m with a winger who is injury prone and a 35yo ruckman that has just left the worst club in the league for circa $2m says a lot about where a club is at.

They have cast their die for the next 3 years and the resultant sugar hit will see them middling at best and disastrous if they become an injured scenario like is happening with Dylan Shiel.

Smacks of our years with Hill and Co...which gave us the sugar hit but not much else.....did agree with the strategy at the time...but saw us middle out pretty quick.

We are lucky that we were able to get King NWM and Owens Windy Pou and later Caminti who all look long term players which we can build around.

Lucked it with Wilkie Sincs and Marshall and Sharman we can now add by sifting through at the cheapest cost, which is talent through the draft to augment the riches we have.

From our draft haul of probably 5-6 new if can get 2 to add to the list and add another 1-2 from Hotton Keeler Van Es Moose then we are looking the best in years.

If we can also get some production from Billings Jones Clarke Membrey and McKenzie to provide some needed stability we will be creating a sustainable level of excellence that the Bombers can only dream about with their hastily conceived quick fixes.

Cox looked like an absolute beast in his first year, has he been injured the rest of the time? Does that make him a 3rd rounder like Coff?

Said on our board. I think between SOS and Dodoro they tried to manipulate a deal involving Sheil and overpaying for Gresh trigering a band 1 pick something went south (either you cooled on the idea or the AFL gave a bit of a not happening and both have to rework the deal from there.

The AFL brought back a rule that you can only go to the draft with as many picks as you have empty list spots. But on draft night, you can bring in more picks if you want.

GC currently hold 10 picks but not sure how many lists spots they have open. They might not be in a position to trade for more picks until draft night.

Posted below...nothing bad in it all truth, lets see if I get an infraction for pointing out what happened.

Was always comfortable with Band 2 if it meant no Sheil.

Sheil only in play if pick 13 was on. Unfortunately a couple of things happened.

1. Dodoro leaked it to his client media without discussing it with the Saints (who were somewhat interested in Sheil but not as part of this deal)
2, Essendon hid the extent of Sheils injuries until he had to go in and get his knee fixed.
3. Dodoro needed the 900k off the books because he had 3 other spud FA's to bring in on huge dollars, cracked it as Saints said no way to Sheil and had to rearrange his TPP because he maxed out the credit card.
4. Took so long to lodge papers because was told Saints would match anything less than Band 2. Dodoro blinked and folded to SOS's demands
5. Essendon get a good player in Gresham, but now the TPP is stuffed as they have Sheil's 900k they expected to have off their books.
6. Saints get pick 21 which is fair compo and now have a very large TPP in excess to go after Haynes and their pick 15.

Anyway Enjoy your three ordinary recruits and Gres on a collective of over 2 mill a year plus Sheil 900k for no output next year.
