Hi folks,
I was just wondering if Tom Highmore has any chance of breaking into your AFL team. His stats look good in the VFL so I was thinking about him as a cheap pickup in a keeper league.
Cheers.

We have a reasonably settled back six, and he’s have to unseat a newly-minted All Australian to play. It’s unlikely without mass injuries.

Great marketing idea. Recruit unnamed players and then sell the naming rights to each of them. A new sponsorship source for the club. Not that long ago that Gary Hocking of Geelong changed his name to Whiskas and Carlton to the Baby Blues (after the new M&M blue).

Coca Cola to the midfield, Arnott's to full back. Red Rooster to the forward flank, look out here comes the branded Saints.
Would put an end to our sponsorship negotiations with Ancestry.com

Not sure the needle has moved a whole lot. Really relying on improvement from Pou, Chito, NAS and Windy.

Yeah, the list doesn't exactly scream premiership on paper. Improvement from youth, a full season out of our best forward line. Extra midfield depth so that we don't run out of soldiers when we have a mid go down etc. There is potential improvement there but it's not looking like a massive upgrade. Natural progression and Dow and Henry hitting the ground running is probably our best chance at a jump.

Wines would not be happy he was pushed out of the midfield and onto a wing for the best part of the season and could well be looking at moving from Port and another guy that could well be on the outer is Heeney , big contract and not setting the world on fire.
There could well be movement from GWS as well , they would love to move one of there long contract guys and use that money on Tom Green , Ash and the likes.

I fully expect there will be a couple big names put to clubs.

But would you want a 30yr old Wines next year , I wouldn't - I feel the heavy set players like him and even Petracca I feel will be lucky to play into there 30s - just because of all of the bullocking work they do and will end up with injuries which will kill there career.
Heeney could well do but has he ever been a midfielder.
Oliver could well still be traded but with all the stories about the guy would you even look at him now.

I think he plays until he's 32 or something but he's the type you can often get on the cheap. Especially at his age. If you could get him for a pick around 33 like the Swans did with Adams he'd be okay but I wouldn't want to give up anything too much.

Is a longer but worse kick than Gresham if you can believe it.

Can take a grab but gets the kick in duties which inflates his stats.

His disposal at AFL level had been sadly disappointing as I wanted him to be in best 22 and has been replaced in the pecking order by Stocker who wad a DFA.

So that's where he is at....hate saying it but it's reality sadly.

* sakes guys.

If you want to create a rumour it needs to be believable. None of this max holmes bs.

Ollie wines

Cripp and cohort went to Moorabbin the other day. As witnessed by saintmike65

We need a midfield bull

SOS has priors trying to recruit wines.

Old enough to move ala Shiel after a poor season.

Haha funnily enough, the made up rumour about Holmes is closer to the mark than some of the other rumours that are considered inside word.

We have been speaking to Holmes’ management…whether that is for a move when he’s OOC next year is the question.

Reckon we should be asking the question to the Bulldogs, With English and Ugle-Hagan looking for huge contracts think the Dogs would be keen on offloading some highly paid players.

We give up Coffield and pick 35 in return we get Jack McCrae and Rory Lobb

Lobb would just be a Salary dump his form at the Dockers was very good but was never going to work at the Dogs with two other key forwards. I know he has his limitations (being a bit soft) but at 206 cm and can play Ruck/Forward that we desperately need could really suit us.

And McCrae being 29 and being pushed out of the midfield I think they would be open to letting him go. Would free up some good coin.

Yes.. but it isn’t a rumour that makes sense for THIS trade period.

Get where I’m going?

If you could choose only 1 to come to the Saints this draft period, who would you choose?
Duggan / McRae / Holmes ? For me I would choose Holmes.

McRae for now, Duggan for the nearer future, Holmes longer term. Any would do.

His kicking is not that bad. Just a bit ordinary for the role he plays. He's a very good intercept mark and solid contested mark. Guys that play that intercept role want to be very good distributors and architects of the rebound. It's his decision making that lets him down a bit IMO. He moves the ball fast but often tries to hit up a player that ends up having to contest.

He's a really really good VFL player and probably just off that top AFL level but he'd definitely get games on some lists.
