Essendon ended up with 60 inside 50s for 9 goals. The last few weeks they would've scored 20 goals+ with that amount of ball going forward. Sensational effort by the backline tonight.

Amazing what happens when your midfield doesn't just let them walk the ball out. Ugly dump kicks inside 50 that give our defenders every chance.

I was very critical of Henry in the first half but he smothered Wright in the 2nd. Kudos.
Yeah he really stood up. He was angry at SDK, but maybe thought about his own efforts and really lifted.

Game said a lot about Essendon. When it got hard for them no one turned up.

We made a lot of gambles with match ups. Going undersized down back and in the ruck. For 2 months we've been searching for a theory of victory. We're going to lose if we play conventionally anyway. Lets play total football. Pick guys who can run and guys who can kick. How often do 1 on 1 contests really happen. 99% the game is just guys running anyway.

Neale fulfils the structural roles of a KPF. It hasn't hit him yet that it is his forwardlne. If there is a contest it his to win and everyone else job to get out of the way.

I'm glad they're getting Knevitt into the team, I was a afraid that he had missed his chance. Coaches will love him, what he does can't be seen on TV, a behind the goal camera specialist.

It won't be long before the team trusts Humphries, quite a few times Humphries moved to get a handball receive and was denied. Good debut.

Danger's 2nd efforts are still there, at times he is the only one able to turn a loss into a neutral and neutral into a win. We need more than just accumulators.

Please put Stewart on the offensive side of the stoppage

Incredible how being competitive in midfield - and they were still on top in clearances etc at stages - lets everything else flow. Defence better, half forwards better, able to open them up on the break. Even more impressive given Clark didn’t play a great game.

Humphries and Knevitt for the rest of the season. See them grow.
Leave MOC and Mullin out. Mullin needs to develop in the 2s.
Humphries has shown more in that 1 game then Mullin in all his games his played... Not Mullin fault, he just needs to play rest of the season in the VFL for him to learn

Brilliant result

We jump to 5th, half a game out of the top 4 and a small percentage boost

Plus, we hurt Essendon's percentage, where they're now top 4 with a percentage below 100 - good for a laugh, and that percentage is probably a better indication of where they sit in the pecking order than their ladder position

Haha the “turning point” on Fox was the non free to Draper

WE WON BY 45 POINTS PEASANTS.
i LOL'd.

Even the free for walking the point thru...still lost by 5 goals if you take them off...

Makes me giggle.

I liked the way we played for each other, the spirit, the camaraderie that seemed to come alive after half time. l

Like old times.
Cohesion!

A little way to reach 2022 level, or more

An unexpected yet delightful win tonight

Funny that first thing Humphries said about VFL to AFL different was the size and development of the bodies.

It makes a difference.
