This is what worries me, our credibility. We tried to make Sydney our second home ... didn't work ... so took on Canberra ... working better than Sydney ... but GC offer more money ... so we'll look at going there.
We can't keep fleeting around the place asking people to buy a membership and...
Of course there's still hope!
Ess & Syd, and WCE & Freo both play against each other this week. Unless both those games are a draw, if we win we'll go on equal points as two of those teams and should go above them on percentage.
The last round is a toughie for us, but Freo play St Kilda...
Rocca isn't THAT bad. It's our style of play and our inability to get the ball into our 50 metre area properly. It's not Rocca's fault when a team mate doesn't kick the ball to him properly after he's given a lead.
I think North's problems aren't to do with one or two players. We seem to...
Thanks for that, good to hear another supporters point of view!
I suppose as someone said elsewhere, it's a case of us "knowing" the players so we tend to cringe a bit more maybe. Also Carey was such a focal point for promoting the club that we're still getting used to seeing other North...
What about Simpson? He seems to speak well when I've heard him on the radio. Even Harvey perhaps. Shannon Grant is good too. We've probably got more media savy guys than we think.
In other interviews I've seen with Archer he seems quiet like what he was last night. The only time he doesn't seem to be is straight after a game where probably the adrenelin is still flowing.
I know people who've met him at North functions and they've all commented on how quiet he was.
The AFL signed the agreement with the MCC, and both parties even revisited it in 2001. It is the AFL's fault in signing a 40 year deal (or thereabouts) and not the MCC's - the MCC are merely protecting their own contract as anyone would. The AFL shouldn't have signed it in the first place...
Being the number 2 draft pick, he was overhyped before he even walked thru the front doors at Arden St. There is a high level of expectation for the first 3 draft picks and when they show some serious potential the hype builds even higher.
I think his second efforts are fantastic!! He is...
I know what you're saying!! The media pencilled in today's game, Geelong and Freo as certain wins for us. Laidley said in his post match that the players were luclustre at training etc during the week and he had to pull them all aside on Friday to make sure they lifted their game. We know...
Re: Re: Four Goal umps to get it right !
In Rugby League, if one ref says the ball didn't go thru and the other says it did, then the final decision is based on the ref who said it went thru.
We could adopt a similar model.
Or, if there was any disagreement then it automatically goes...
I've found that Kingy has played like this for quite a while, he seems to want to be the hero that does the amazing rather than doing the one percenters that helps the team if that makes sense.
He is forever calling for the ball when on a ridiculous angle in our goal square and whenever he...
Oh yes Graeme Atkins, I remember him! Couldn't believe it when he went to Collingwood and then I think he moved on to the SA league didn't he?? If he had of stayed with North I think he would have had a pretty good career.
Yep you're right, I've just realised that the games that I'm thinking of where we played better are actually from a few years ago (seeing as we don't get many boggy days like today these days are few and far between). The Eagles did handle the conditions better than our opposition in those...
Um......... funnily enough yes I was watching the same game as you.
And interestingly I was comparing the way North played today to other games we've played in the wet, and we have played much better in the wet previously than we did today.
And do I care that the Eagles think it's one of...
I always thought that it was a free kick to the player who laid the tackle. I noticed a tackle laid on Chad Fletcher today that happened exactly like the above but it was deemed play on.
If a player doesn't dispose the ball properly isn't it a free kick? Or has that changed?
I agree that we have an excellent record in the wet but I was really disappointed that we didn't handle the conditions that well today. Our decision making in these conditions was pretty bad - ie Stevens took a mark just outside our 50 and then tried to handball it 15 metres which was quickly...
Let me explain...........Lloyd is the tool because he knew he wasn't capable of taking the mark so he DELIBERATELY tripped himself up to get the free kick. He is a tool because he knew he couldn't win the ball any other way, other than to trip himself and make it look like he'd been pushed in...
The best free kick of the night was the one to Lloyd in the second quarter where he deliberately tripped over his own feet. Funny as :D
I'm hoping Lloyd will be made "tool of the week" on After The Game for that one.
The difference is is that McCartney only wants to pay tribute to a select few of those who died, not all.
I find it slightly embarrassing that we think we should only value Aussie lives.
It happened in Bali, it's affected the Balinese which we tend to forget, and a great number of other...
I thought our defence was pretty good today and our tackling was a big improvement.
Still don't like our kicking. Something we have to improve on.
Glad to get a win :D
If he wants to wear another number on the front of his jumper then fine, but if you're going to do it don't only honour those that just happened to have the same citizenship as us. It's too insular. The people working at the bar where McCartney was drinking wouldn't have been Aussies, so does...
I agree with both arguments (Scarlett's and that the AFL are showing a bit of double standards), but having said that, I don't agree with the notion that only the Australians who died should be remembered. There were over 200 people killed in Bali and each one is just as important as the other...
Perhaps this was the loss we had to have, so to speak. I try to believe that there are "good loses" that brings the players etc back to earth. Hopefully this will be it, the players won't let another team kick a record score against them again!
I miss a lot of the spontaneity in the game - the biggest one is players now centre the ball rather than go for goal. So many times I want that player to pull off an amazing shot only to see it go to a pack of players in the centre square.
I'm with you Tio_Ray - we should stop the youth of the world having ideas ...... any ideas. We should go further and stop them going to school ........ otherwise they'll learn to think for themselves and get other silly ideas into their heads, and we can't have that goddam it ;)
Sounds like...
