You obviously haven't read the latest financials that were just sent out to the Coburg members for the AGM. Money in the bank and back in the black - doesnt read as a basket case to me
Err no - it wasn't fiddling the books as you call it - it was called follwoing the Law - Corporations Law to be precise.
Under Corps law the Club is required to include in their P&L any monies that they control - like it or not the Club are deem to control (oversee) the JDF so therefore they...
Thanks jezza and co :thumbsu:
It would have been nice for the quote to have link to show where it came from ..

As long as a Richmond bloke has played a game for Coburg they are eligble this week for the VFL finals but if they haven't played a game they cannot play.
But remember the 12/10 rules applies for the finals
Re: How would Eddie be feeling right now?
Hmmmm .............. How would Eddie be feeling?
Who cares I am more interested in how BF's Tigger is feeling :D
Granted the AFL are getting alot more for their TV rights but I don't think David Gallop or the NRL would be too concerned because they have the big ace..........:D
FTA coverage in Sydney/Brisbane on Friday nights in primetime - locked in signed sealed an delivered.
What does the...
Having thought that Tigger was Eddie McEverywhere in disguise I am now starting to believe that Tigger may actually be Damien Barrett from the HUN who seems to get all his info from Ch 9 and has been just as biased towards the 9 camps as Caro has supposedly been towards ch7. :D
But I agree...
Clubs will get more monet?
Let's look at that point. When the current arrangement (9/10/foxtel) was announced everyone did cartwheels proclaiming Clubs were saved, their futures were assured.
2005 and teams are getting handouts from the AFL and are still struggling to survive.
Don't...
:(
Well goings by what's in today's Age - Channel 9 haven't actually done anything but talk numbers - no official bid:
"The Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions, which have seen regional coverage of football into their states reduced, are backing Seven and Ten while a number of Victorian clubs...
Extactly how did you come up with those figures? The article says
"With the AFL believed to be seeking $135 million a year for its TV rights, both bidders are closer to the $120 million mark. But the league acknowledges that the Seven-Ten camp offers better coverage into the...
Who knows - I suppose he'll nominate for the draft even though he wouldn't get selected. Then I suppose he'll get offers from the other various comps around the country - VFL, WAFL, SANFL or he might just go home to Brissy and play in the QAFL
Can't remember word for word :D
But basically ...
He thanked the Coburg Footy Club, said he'd enjoyed playing there over the last 2 years, thanked David Flood for giving him a strong leadership role with the young blokes in 2005 and finished by wishing everyone at the Club all the best...
yeah the hoohaa was about the loss - the media never mentioned about the debt. Just like the media gets all excited when clubs make profits but forget to mention that doesn't mean a club is out of debt.
Recently I heard the St Kilda Prez on SEN and they asked him how much profit the Saints...
Good to see you too 1980
Nothing like a CC debate to get your fingers a tapping on the old keyboard mate :D
But you're right I love the old accounting debates and especially the corporation law ones to they are my speciality ;)
In simple terms - the balance sheet (assets (what you own) against liabilities (what you owe)) determines whether you are in debt or not. Currently the Clubs Balance sheets says that our liabilities are greater than our assets so we have a debt. If our assets were greater than the liabilities we...
No we are not $2.2 million in debt. The balance sheet shows we are (IIRC) $600k in debt
The club lost $2.2 million last year.
If we break even then we remain $600k in debt. If we make a profit our debt reduces by the amount of the profit. Make $100k the debt becomes $500k
Compared to...
The thread says:
RICHMOND
RETIRED
W. Campbell
M. Graham
DELISTED
K. Archibald
R. Hilton
S. Morrison
Question - where did the list come from? The only 2 that have bee reported are the retirements and a report in the papers that Morrison maybe delisted.
So...?????????????
The part I just don't understand is how Geelong can have 35,000 members (or sometyhing like that I'm sure it's over 30K) and their home ground holds only 28,000 people.
Forget about tiger or any visting teams fans getting in they can't even accomodate their own members. :( and that just...
Just a suggestion but try to remember big blokes take longer to develop.
With this in mind just remember a big fella who was drafted in the early 1990's took a while to develop and he went on played around 250 games for us.................. his name was Benny Gale ;)
I didn't see Coburg this week because I was in Perth but I agree Weaver - Meyer for example has spent alot of time on the bench for Coburg the past couple of weeks
Struth IITB - he's only played 2 AFL games.
I've actually seen him quite a bit for Coburg this year and he's been very good but the difference between the AFL and VFL is massive. Having him play in the seniors at the moment is purely a development thing. That he's played senior...
You needed to RSVP so they can mark you off at the door
It's starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 9.00pm at the Palladium.
ALthough I reckon there maybe a mass exodus at around 8.00pm so people can get home for the final episode of "Desperate Housewives" :D
