Thinking we should have subbed stokes and thrown either simpson or west in forward line. Big men do not get any smaller in the last quarter of a game. We may as well face it, when the going was rough we could throw either westy or otto in the fwd line last year and they could contribute. If...
Can't keep any of their talls on the park very long can they. Gotta love how adept Betts is at going missing too. I think we can refer to this as blues free football.
Just throw the towel in and get rid of Ratten already guys. Get a coach who can think inside the box instead of one...
Considering we'll be downsizing from 6 man interchange to 3 men from the NAB cup I think the pressure will naturally be curtailed a little bit anyway from what it was last year and the previous few weeks. You've got Woj, Kelly and Enright there. Also Mackie who can do a bit of line breaking...
Top notch opposition as far as midfield. Not top notch as far as opposition rucks. Besides it didn't do us any harm playing him against Sandilands last year did it? If he could handle that ok he can handle this and if the midfield isn't up to it then the best rucking in the world won't make a...
Hmm fair calls. In that case I'd just have to back Scarlo and Taylor to get the job done. I like Lonners as far as being a stopper but I feel he seems to unsettle our ability to get out of the back 50 nice and quick with minimal pressure.
Well if we have to look at the sub purely as covering...
Heres the team I'd like to see for rd 1, mildly tweaked version of Year Of The Cat's one.
B: Kelly Scarlett Mackie
HB: Enright Taylor Milburn
C: Duncan Corey Varcoe
HF: Chapman Mooney Johnson
F: Byrnes Pods Stokes
R: Simpson Selwood Bartel
INT: West, Wojcinski, Menzel
SUB: Lonners...
Perhaps a seperate medal should be given to all players who played in the 2010 draw. Not a GF medal because even though they would have contributed to the team winning it there would also be players who played H + A games who have played neither the draw or the replay. They too played part in...
Re: Is It Time to get rid of Hawkins
A few things are clear about Hawka to me. One is he can tear it up when he is in full flight. Two is that if he gets injured and misses several weeks his fitness base seems to drop just as drastically as Ottens' does, not to mention his confidence.
He...
Re: Changes vs Fremantle
Pods in Blake out. Hawkins rucks. If Lonners comes in maybe we drop corey and switch things up a little, shove byrnes into the center for a bit. Maybe chuck mackie up forward and see if he can slot a couple. I can't see us dropping Byrnes, he might not have set the...
It's not Pantilands it's Gigantilands. Thank god he's gunna be playing on one leg, if at all, because that man is scarily dominant when he's fully fit. Go Cats!
I just want him to play at the standard I know he is caoable of.
our last two games were against West coast and Carlton. No disrepect to those two teams but they just aren't even in the same league as St kilda or Collingwood, especially in defense.
FWIW I think Hawk will stay in and Blake...
6 handballs. Big whoop. Blake had 5. Blake also has 1 goal assist to his name and guess who has 0 to theirs. So far all that tells me is one of those two is probably gunna be dropped for Pods. I don't mind which, either way it will be a net gain.
Hooray for us! We had a bad night, everyone...
Let's see 5 marks, 3 kicks, 2 behinds.
Versus Mooney: 4 marks, 8 kicks, 3 goals, 3 behinds.
That says to me that Hawkins was crap, didn't lead to dangerous positions and didn't convert either of at least 2 shots at goals and was useless when the ball went to ground. That's my opinion and I'm...
Wasn't so-so at all. He singlehandedly kept us in the game. While the rest of our midfield were crap, he was getting clearance after clearance. Ran his arse off all night. He gave everything he could and he looked less than his brilliant best because of the others, it had nothing to do with him.
I'm going to say Hawkins. Soft as Sh*t considering his size, doesn't run full tilt or lead anywhere damaging and actually upsets our forward line structure. Welcome back Pods, you have been sorely missed.
Mackie frustrates me enormously, his whole year has been below par. Needs a size 14 up...
I like the idea of Ling playing Rookes role in the forward line. IMO sometimes we just need that experienced level headed player to create play in that half forward area where sometimes byrnes, stokes and varcoe are finiding the going a little tough.
Kelly should fill lings role, tagging but...
Hmm, yeh I'll have to concede that point, it would be less visual information to process in a split second. I guess I'm just frustrated that instead of coming up with a way to get it right they just throw out the whole rule. Considering how much resources the afl has they should be able to...
If that goal umpire couldn't see the ball deflect off the post on the inside of it then what makes you think he would have been able to tell if it deflected on the other side of it? I'd bet that there will be calls of goals or points where it was the opposite. At least all you have to do to...
This poster = goal rule is bizarre. I mean if the goal umpires have trouble telling if the ball hit the post how will they go seeing which side of the post the ball actually went through on? Dumbest rule ever. Surely noone thinks there would be any less errors with this rule then there are...
Re: Ling to Full Forward -thoughts
Should have been rested weeks ago when his back flared up. Those of us who have been around for a little while will remember how awful he was in '06 because his back really plagued him all year. He couldn't even turn quickly, just had to run straight...
Nothing in it. Hawkins was terrible yes, and is clearly Sh!tscared to jump at the ball or run full tilt because of his foot. But when you win the hitouts and lose the clearances that means your running players are not doing their jobs. We lost because many times our fwd/mid/def were either...
If there was going to be any late withdrawal of a midfielder then it wouldn't suprise me if it was Ling out. He was definitely struggling last week with that back soreness.
Sorry if this has already been brought up somewhere else and I've missed it, I didn't see the ginger ninja (Ling) on the ground today. Anyone know why this was? Rested? Illness? Injured at training? I double checked the supercoach scores for the game and confirmed that Hogan played instead.
Re: Worst game we've played since '07
Not a bad loss in my eyes. Seems to me the boys just know that certain home and away games are not worth winning because it can be so costly for the rest of a season. We already have enough to contend with on the injury front. Even so we've come out with...
Always starts the season strangely, as if he's forgotten he's a defender. Ramps up and finishes the year playing very good accountable footy. Secretly wishes he was playing in the forward line so the spotlight was on him more.
