Big difference between Goodes and Jetta, Franklin, etc. They've never taken a political stance publicly and confronted the plight of their race. Do you reckon there might be something in that?
Everyone is happy to go along and watch indigenous players play the game, but if one would dare and...
1. Cotchin
2. Dangerfield
3. Beams
4. Fyfe
5. Shuey
6. Martin
7. Sloane
8. Sidebottom
9. Bennell
10. Treloar
The first 4 could probably go in any order. Probably would have had Fyfe No.1 pre-injury, but the other 3 have really broken out this year. About 15 players who could easily go 5-10.
I can understand a little of the concern around the off-field stuff, but it seems to be a bit of a product of the over-analysis of him as a prospect. He was so highly touted that all that was left was for recruiters to pick holes in his game, and at this point they are looking to be false...
I remember the knocks on this guy coming into the draft. Not big enough to be a true key forward, not quick enough to be a midfielder. To be honest, he looks like he could be either. Pavlich-esque.
How did he get to 26? Surely not the "character" concerns
I can't see the selectors going for more than 2 changes, if that, as they don't seem to like the idea of wholescale changes. However, it's their own fault they're in this predicament, as they are so reluctant to make any changes based on form, that all the players they have perservered with...
What I'd go with:
Katich
Watson
Ponting(C)
Clarke
Ferguson
Khawaja
Paine

Hilfenhaus
Hughes (12th)
What I'd expect:

Bollinger
Hilfenhaus
Hughes (12th)
Up:
Goddard - Obviously was an elite player going into the Grand Finals, however I now have him on a par or even better than Ablett, Judd, Hodge, Hayes.
Thomas - Had a great season, but really cemented himself as an A-grader. Hard at the contest and so creative it's ridiculous.
Hayes -...
Enigmatic talent. More X-factor than you could imagine. Having played against and watched him for years, I dunno if he can be the full package. He's been given every chance possible by AFL Tas, played overage mariners, rushed into the Devils and given a state jumper this year when he arguably...
If anything hurt Swan, I think it's the perception that has floated around for a few years that he doesn't win his own footy, or use it damaging. This might have been true in past years, but it is has been far from true this year. Always seems to come up with a clearance when Collingwood need...

Umpires obviously don't watch where the ball actually ends up, because in every Carlton game I've watched, 5 in total - 4 he polled in, his ball use has been average at best.
Spot on. Ling, Corey, Hawkins who moves like a very old man just can't get it done against this pressure. They aren't elusive enough or able to make decisions quickly enough with ball in hand, let alone quick enough to match Collingwood's transition to attack.
Other massive weaknesses that...
He's battling his heart out and doing more than his part, but he hasn't been damaging, has one a lot of pill, but there's either nowhere to go or no one to give it to.
Geelong just don't have runners. They don't appear to have a recognisable gameplan. They handball backwards to stationary...
Mitch Clark - Went backwards in a big way
Richard Tambling - Looked like there might be a light at the end of the long tunnel, very wrong. Would love to get even a third round pick for him.
Shaun Higgins - Injuries and what looked like a lack of intensity
Bernie Vince - See Higgins
Kurt Tippet -...
Very proud day for the club in my opinion. Showed how far we have come in the last year. Haven't seen fight and determination shown by us like that for a while. I thought it showed the impact Cousins has had, because there is little doubt that the motivating factor was to send him off the...
