    Traded Jack Ginnivan [Traded with #39, F2 & F4 to Hawthorn for #33, F2 & F3]

I did a quick calc and came up with pick 20 approx, assuming no f/s bids or compo or whatever next year (which of course we know won't happen in reality). Ginni + 967 points in for Hawks 1887 points in for Pies = 920 diff = approx pick 20 IF Pies drop 3 spots and Hawks jump 3 to 13th it...

Crouch and Treloar for me, but same principle.

Free Agency Ben McKay [Joins Essendon as RFA]

GCS gave pick 7 to Geelong for Bowes and his remaining contract which was rumoured to be 850k/year for 2 more years (back-ended contract). Hypothetically Geelong would generally pay above the average wage (406k/year) for a former top-10 pick who would be playing senior footy, again...

Traded Ollie Henry - Traded to Geelong as part of a reported 3-way deal (details tbc)

Cats fans laughed me off when I suggested 25 and Stephens for Henry and maybe a late swap of picks to get it done...

Traded Ollie Henry - Traded to Geelong as part of a reported 3-way deal (details tbc)

Surely we can't be serious regarding travel times or whatever? He buys or rents a place in Yarraville, 15mins to work and 45 mins from Geelong (a trip he might make once or perhaps twice a week). The 'go-home' factor is bullshit when it's literally 45 minutes down the road.

Traded Ollie Henry - Traded to Geelong as part of a reported 3-way deal (details tbc)

So by this logic, someone should offer pick 3 for Paddy Dow?

Traded Ollie Henry - Traded to Geelong as part of a reported 3-way deal (details tbc)

If you look at the trades in isolation, most people agree that Henry would be worth a pick at or slightly better than which he was drafted at, say late first. Stephens, through lack of opportunity and whatever else, many people suggesting Cats get a late 2nd or early 3rd? Adding those...

Traded Ollie Henry - Traded to Geelong as part of a reported 3-way deal (details tbc)

27 + Stephens for Henry could see it done? A similar Jack Crisp 'steak knives' situation would be nice if it pays off!

Traded Cooper Stephens - Traded to Hawthorn as part of Henry/Mitchell deal

Steak knives in the Henry deal? I wouldn't mind it.

Traded Brodie Grundy [Traded to Melbourne for #27]

While most people would agree that Grundy isn't worth the 950k when teams in this era aren't relying heavily on grade A rucks anyway, and we've got a cheaper option in Cameron who is well and truly pulling his weight... I can't see many people arguing that he's not worth 650k/year which is...

Grundy + Prison Bar allowance to Port for 3 first-rounders? I reckon they'd be keen

Toast The New Carlton Thread: 5 wooden spoons this century (next worst is 2)

Bill Burr sums it up best imo. For the conspiracy theorists who believe that the vaccine is reducing the population... why would they intentionally harm the so-called 'sheeple' who are following the rules and doing what they're asked? Imagine what they'd be left to govern... A whole bunch of...

Opinion Points based drafting and trading?

I like the concept, would be a nice change, and seemingly a 'fairer' way of conducting business. However I also see some potential issues: 1. How do you ensure that a sufficient number of rookies are selected? Ie. All teams go all-in and only 30-odd players are drafted. I know that clubs need...

Review Winners and losers, 2021 edition

Pretty happy as a Pies supporter. We got shit done, seemingly weren't bent over, no huge media leaks or press conference disasters (so far!)... Points for Daics, flexibility and picks stocked for next year to make a move potentially on a key forward... Things seem positive. A nice change!

Oppo Camp Max Lynch (Traded to Hawks 2021)

I posted this in the 'Drafts, Trading and Free Agency' thread:

Traded Max Lynch F3 (Freo), F4(GC) to Hawthorn for F3 and F3 (Bris)

    So to crunch the numbers: Lynch +Freo future 3rd (assuming 9th?) = 331pts +GCS future 4th (assuming 14th?) = 158pts FOR Hawks future 3rd (assuming 16th?) = 446pts Brisbane future 3rd (assuming 4th?) = 259pts Lynch and 489 pts for 705? Lynch = 216pts = Pick 54 roughly? Hopefully Brisbane...

Traded Max Lynch F3 (Freo), F4(GC) to Hawthorn for F3 and F3 (Bris)

Apparently both Hawks and Brisbane future 3rds for Lynch, Freo future 3rd and our future 4th? Did I just hear that right on trade radio?

    GCS send: 22 - 845points 46 - 331pts 58 - 170pts 79 - N/A Future 4th - 110? (Assuming 10th) TOTAL - 1450ish Pies send: Future 2nd - Assuming 14th 815pts / Assuming 17th 912pts Future 3rd - 412/465 Future 4th - 158/194 TOTAL - 1385/1571 Seems to be pretty even to me. I know there will likely...

Recommitted Brayden Maynard [contracted and staying at Collingwood]

As far as I know, the compensation is based off of the player's contract, not the quality of the player, right? So if a club is willing to pay up for him, we get compensated at a higher rate, rightly or wrongly. If he's in the top 5% of earners, it's a first-round compo 1 spot after the club's...

Recommitted Brayden Maynard [contracted and staying at Collingwood]

If he did go next year for nothing, then we would get a compo pick for him, which would likely be a first-rounder (prob top-5 given our likely result next season) anyway based on the salary he could command on the open market. No way we trade him for any less than that this year if it's of no...

Who’s stepping up to play in 2021?

Similar question to the original; who will benefit/struggle most (comparable to 2020 output) from the change back to longer quarters? *Also, what's the big knock on the Brown boys? I don't mind them!

Club Focus Collingwood 2020 - Henry, Macrae, McInnes, Poulter, McMahon, McCreery

I disagree, but then that's my bias. Next 2-3 years probably, but not 10. Blues will need to make finals this year or their good players will start to look elsewhere. How long can Cripps carry them on his own? Williams, Saad etc should help that, but if they don't have a strong impact then shit...

Club Focus Collingwood 2020 - Henry, Macrae, McInnes, Poulter, McMahon, McCreery

Agreed. Geelong and Richmond have managed better than us, 100%. Your example though was Carlton. In saying that, there are surely some Richmond players who can/will/do earn much more than they should be, which is fine when they have flags behind them now. If Pies had won in 2018/2019 no one...

Club Focus Collingwood 2020 - Henry, Macrae, McInnes, Poulter, McMahon, McCreery

Easy to manage the salary cap when you haven't been within coo-ee of finals for a decade I'd think. Rightly or wrongly, Collingwood threw cash at players to keep them together for a flag tilt, which nearly paid off in 2018 and injuries/other circumstances ****ed our 2019/2020 efforts. Our...
