why? if anything, experience is critical in a role like this.

Time to go? Hardly - Dekka has made his fair share of mistakes (as have all recruiters) but he's also found gold (as have all recruiters) Take 2017 for example Stephenson (Rising Star - but not Hine's fault that he was moved on) Murphy - doing fine Appleby - gone T Brown - just delisted Checkers...

I'll miss Brodie but a quick reminder that our record without him this year was 13-3 And the Cats won a flag with a less than mediocre ruck.

Oppo Camp Brodie Grundy (Traded to Melbourne 2022)

unfortunately we'll probably never know the truth about how much we are paying. IMHO I don't think we're paying $300k - but I doubt if we're only up for $100k. But what do I know!?

Oppo Camp Brodie Grundy (Traded to Melbourne 2022)

I reckon Grundy will do very well in his first year. And then taper off quickly after that

Oppo Camp Brodie Grundy (Traded to Melbourne 2022)

from what I understand there wasn't enough $$ savings in cutting Cameron and Cox. And having a dependency on one player isn't smart. Neither Cox nor DC are in the same league as Grundy but the reality is that they are both capable enough while still being better forward options than Grundy...

A GWS friend said that Setterfield had issues with decision-making and often kicked to the wrong option. He may have improved since then. However we also have JDG, Crisp as taller/bigger mids

TBH there's a real possibility we keep Grundy and Henry. Which isn't a bad thing except that Mitchell and Fiorini cease to become options. In the meantime, who's your back up ruck? Brown is a forward who happens to ruck occassionally and Mcdonald is just a pinch-hitter. Genuine question BTW

If he stays I reckon this is the likely outcome. He'll have to win back the skeptics who called him "soft, mumma's boy" etc but TBH, winning cures everything. And even if he still decides to leave, we can then ask for 2 first rounders.

Disagree with the first part of the post. Freo are seriously well-coached and often played better away from home. Big chance to top 4. Moving up to 13 is my preferred option

Not sure what the answer is but if he does nominate a huge (front-ended) contract that would send ripples across Geelong's well-managed salary cap. If Henry had the similar record to Cameron, a large/long contract would've been acceptable. But Henry is a 2 year old with defensive weaknesses...

and if they do, they burn a pick on him. Everyone bagged Port for not trading Nick Stevens to us and letting him go to the draft (2003 I think) where Carlton picked him up. Port got nothing. And yet they won the flag the next year. Let that be your lesson GW

I was looking back on the thread I got banned from - about 70% of the posters respectfully disagreed with me which is fine. The other 30% just hurled abuse. Which I don't care about. But it's clear the mods were in the 30% group.

sorry about your car mate. As someone who lives in Geelong and had to endure 2011, their inability to even acknowledge any weaknesses of their players is unparalleled. I'm as one-eyed as any Collingwood fan but Cats supporters are next level. Don't get me wrong, Geelong is a great place to...

this wouldn't be the worst outcome. Henry has talent and I'd rather not waste the 2 years of development. And even if he leaves, his increased value will increase what Geelong have to pay.

which may explain why Geelong are reluctant to give a first rounder for Henry. Which is irrelevant as we won't release him for anything less than a 1st (or a 2nd and a lot of other things eg a player)
