First time I've really watched him play. He was brilliant today and put everything on the line. Some of his 2nd efforts and tackling kept you guys in it.

He got my 3 votes...only one who could hold a tackle.
Jonesy really was something to cheer about. When the cats turned & saw him closing in they went for the quick disposal.

I'd also like to nominate Gwilty for some praise as well. His chase, pressure & use of the body was pretty good.

Only played on Bartel in the second half, which he got 14 touches.

Considering Bartel's a brownlow medalist and Jonesy cant kick...
considering also it seemed like the umps were getting a lift home with bartell as well...jonesy has really impressed me this year, i love him i think he is great, he is going to help me with the transition of the great man leaving this year..

Wow thats kinda freaky, watching the game today i thought the boy played great, hes 1%ers were great and he gave heaps for the team all day...

I was actually planning on coming on here and posting a bulletin about him, first time i have really seen him aswell.

then it was quiet funny to come on here and find a bulletin on him, that i then found out was written by another tiger supporter lol.

I thought CJ was great today. He tried his guts out, never stopped running and at least was one of the few guys who really tackled hard.
I have been impressed with him from his first game. A bit of work on his disposal during the off season and he will be a shining light for our side for many years.

You guys must have been watching a different game to the rest of us.

Absolutely appauling foot skills , kicks like he has a broken leg.

Disgraceful decision making skills.

Not a troll just some home truths. :)

I'm afraid I agree. Some rose-coloured glasses methinks.

He's a tagger right?

So, you have to compare him to Cameron Ling then - I'd take Cameron Ling anyday of the week over Jones.

Disposal awful - simple fact is, is this guy really someone who's going to take us to a Premiership - ala Ling (for example) - No.

Not a Premiership Player.

Why are we even comparing Clinton Jones to Cameron Ling?

Do we want to compare Gary Ablett Jnr to Robert Eddy while we're at it?

Scarlett with Sam Gilbert?

Polly Farmer with Michael Rix?

It's good to hear that such an inexperienced player played so well in his first final in a game where his more experienced teammates failed to step up to the plate.

Might not have all the natural skills, but puts in the effort that is required. If the whole team puts in as much as CJ does, we look a whole lot better as a unit and as a result we are far more competitive across every line

Would like to see the midfield coaches really work with him on his kicking in the offseason, as he has some courage, and pretty good ball winning ability

You must have missed the fact he had 24 disposals at 92% efficiency and zero clangers then. He normally isn't the best disposer but I thought credit should be given where it's due yesterday.

Now I look how old he really is (thought he was about 20-21) he probably needs to start playing like that more often since he'll be 25 by the start of next season.

But how you can rubbish him and compare him to Ling and expect him to be like Ling when he has 150 games less experience is beyond me. At least he had the balls to play hard footy for 4 quarters and his tackles actually stuck. Had far more impact on the result being less than 76 at 3QT than nearly every other one of his team mates.

Who is us, Archie? "We" are not amused with your trolling little man.

92% disposal efficiency not good enough for you? Hang on, maybe he had some clangers ... let me see ... multiply by 3 ... carry the one ... he had none you turkey.

Stokes did f#ck all when CJ was on him. Assume you've bagged Nick-Nack on another thread?

Well done CJ - we needed a few more of you.

Sorry - I missed your post before I responded to the troller. Will take my pills shortly.

2004 - 2005 Best and fairest for South Fremantle
2006 - Saints Rookie - 3rd place for Sandover Medal. (WAFL)
2007 - Elevated to Saints upon injury to Jared Allen , played 6 games, showed some promise and some problems.
2008 - Played 18 Games , some very impressive feats . Still some skills issues but now considered by most to be best 22 for St Kilda. No longer a fringe player.
2009+ --

Shall we compare his development to:
McQualter, Fergason, Rix, R Clarke.

He is working hard on and off the field and I look forward to him becoming an essential part of the team.

Us ? I can't really be bothered naming the 8 people who i watched the game with. Just listen to what respected people in the media say about him and you will see i am not alone in my thinking.

The fact that you guy's rate him really is embarrassing.

His workrate is fantastic and he tries his gut's out but that should be considered a minimum requirement to play AFL.

Well clearly one of us should be embarassed.

Who are these esteemed people you speak of?

As I've said in the thread I created a couple of months ago, I really like Jones, he is that sort of guy that gives his all 100% of the time, there was a period in the second quarter where he was everywhere, tackled well, and used the ball really well. Not bad for a guy in his first final, and second year of senior footy, He may be maligned by most, but to those who know their football, he is a valid contributor to the team. Not everyone can be a Chris Judd, or a lenny Hayes, there always has to be someone who puts in the hard work to make those guys look better, and that is what he did yesterday. :thumbsu:
I don't mean this the wrong way, but his hard work showed up a few yesterday.
