1998 - 1999:

19 games for Brisbane Lions and 3 goals.

Highlight includes a 21 possession debut, where in Cheesy styles, gave away 2 free kicks. As well as a 27 possession game in just his 8th AFL game.

2000 - present:

227 games for the Magpies and 84 goals.

In his second season for Collingwood, and just his fourth AFL season, at age 22, he polled 12 Brownlow votes, the highest he has in a single season of AFL footy, even though I believe his first season at Collingwood was his best in his early years. In 2000, he averaged 22.6 possessions and 2.5 tackles a game, whilst also kicking 12 goals.

In my opinion, I believe he had his best game for CFC in 2004 against Port, in their premiership season, where he managed 26 kicks, 12 handballs, 8 marks and 8 tackles. He, alongside teenage Mark McGough and Anthony Rocca did their best in keeping Collingwood competitive for all four quarters at Footy Park against the form side of the comp.

What has been your Obie highlight?

His Collingwood career consisted of 19.5 possessions a game with 140 of his 227 Collingwood games over 19 possessions a game, 3.3 marks a game and 3.3 tackles a game. He also ended up with 33 Brownlow votes for the Magpies over the last decade.

As it stands, Shane O'Bree has played 246 AFL games, and kicked 87 AFL goals. He averaged over 10 kicks and 8 handballs a game as well as over 3 tackles and 3 marks in his career. That was more than adequate in anyone's book, I'd say.

Congratulations Cheesy, and hopefully we see you around the club after you hang up the boots in the future.

Might not happen.

He has been offered a midfield coaching job at the Gold Coast if he retires at the end of the year, which looks inevitable.

Wow, Crackers Keenan almost got one right.

Ok, so he was 12 months off, and he said Cheesy was going to North, but still, in "Crackers World" that's a success.:p:thumbsu:

He's been a great servant of our club. I think his best years with us were in 2000-01. He's been such a workhorse, and really took the load off Nathan Buckley when he arrived at our club. Finally, we had someone else capable of winning the ball out of the center.

I consider his best game for us was in Rd. 3 2000, his 3rd game in Black and White. 31 possessions and 3 goals in a 12 goal victory over Carlton.

He copped a lot of knocks and bruises for us over the years, he deserves a lot of respect for his efforts. Thanks Shane.

Ok, I still don't get it?
Has he retired? If not, this is a very random, out of no-where thread.

If he has retired, thanks Obe, you weren't the flashiest bloke going around but you just continued about your business and got the job done, congrats on a great career. (I don't care what anyone says but 246 Games at the elite level is a fantastic achievement by anyone's standards).

If he has'nt retired I hope he reads this thread and then announces his retirement.

On recent form he has little chance of getting another game other than in the VFL.

Sorry you won't make your 250 but thats show business ;)
