not about being tough but for whatever reason that is the way you are choosing to take it.
Okay, being friendly is not impacting the outcome of this game… like of all the issues this team is having I wouldn’t have that in the top 100.

I thought it was a great move by Cummins, not much else he could do, I liked it.

That said why is "Howie" a thing, I agree with you, he just seems to suck up to everyone.
No issue with Cummins doing that. The captain should lead like that.

Point was more about Howard gushing like a Swiftie. He was so desperate to say something positive I guess.

Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting's teams didn't win because they were aggressive, they won because they were packed with generational players.

You would be in correct then.

So how did that result in Australia losing 13 wickets for 116 runs?

Which is essentially the issue here.

Because they can be as unfriendly as they want. It’s not going to bother the two blokes that made hundreds, nor for that matter the bloke that made 70, who has already made centuries in Australia and SA before.

The idea that people are going to be ‘scared’ of the Aussie bowlers just because ‘they’re Australian and they act scary’ is under 14s shit.

I'd had enough last night so was reading a book in another room of the house, kid still had the cricket on.

The only sound that carried was Howie's yobbo nasally voice.

I knew we had a problem when a day or two ago, just before the ad break they had a highlights package. But, instead of printing in the screen the name of the batter or bowler in the highlight, they printed the commentator's name.

Same with the camera on themselves. It's not about you, fellas.

Cricket is a mental game. You need to find an edge. We have lost ours. We are not as technically poor as people would suggest. Being too nice to India over the last 3 home series has worked well for us hasn't it.

So you’re saying those results had nothing at all to do with India simply getting better and could have just been reversed with some bowlers calling the Indian players ‘c**ts’ and natural order would have been restored?

Hahahahahahahaha f**k me no wonder cricket fans in other countries laugh at the ones here.

We've all missed the point that other nations have caught up with their professionalism and administration now matching Cricket Australia. Our team is not entitled to keep winning- it needs to lift and develop test style batsmen. This could be loss the team needs.
But how were we winning
Drew ashes series
Drew vs Indies
Haven't won a series in indua

Aggression and mongrel has nothing to do with calling people campaigners. You're choosing to take what I am saying very differently to what I want to see from this team. No wonder the world is doomed with soft ***** like yourself spreading their virus everywhere

Aussie commentators on the whole are really shithouse, I reckon I like 25% of the commentators both in AFL and cricket.

Channel 7 overall is the best, Alison Mitchell is really good, Ponting a star, Fleming and Langer give me the shits, Ravi Shastri is pretty good.

I'm trying to ignore my hate of Warner and take him on his merits as a commentator, he does provide some good insight, way more than Mark Waugh for example.

I'm early 50s and reckon you'd be about the same with that attitude. I do get what you're saying in this is not the sort of game team's of the past have played but young people don't respond to fire and brimstone in the way that we did.

People were calling for his head years before he was cooked. Now they've got what they wanted..

If Warner didn't score a double century at MCG he would have been cooked then and there. That double Tonn spared him a year or so and got him a ticket to ashes where he was shocking.

he was cooked.

What I've liked so far about Warner is that he seems to at least be taking the job seriously, actually preparing and giving some up to date insights on how Australia approach cricket.

Lollllll. Ok mate.
That’s what it is. Four bowlers with 1400 wickets between them and Steve Smith etc have got to where they are through being soft ***** and asking batsmen to donate their wickets for scientific research.

It’s you that knows better how they should mentally approach it.

Their bouncers should have had some more spit on the ball.

No team has ever beaten the Aussies on merit, all defeats have only occurred on occasions when Australia weren’t aggressive enough.

Moreover, Australia has a mortgage on backbone and no other team, if Australia DID show the qualities you are so desperate to see, would be able to show any fortitude themselves….. like, say, the kind India has repeatedly shown during the 8-9 series wins they’ve had over the Aussies in the last 20-odd years.

Our team isn't exactly young anymore. All mature guys who don't need to be treated like babies. Unfortunately this attitude has trickled down from the top. It is possible to be aggressive and combative on the field without calling people campaigners and what not. Our players seem very tentative and don't want to upset the Indian players so it doesn't hurt their own IPL gravy train agendas

He wasn't much good away from home but you could chalk him up for at least a couple of centuries here each summer.

lol mate you memory is cooked.

warner scored 5 test centuries from 2017 to 2023.....

Only once in that period in 2019 did he get 2 x centuries in the same test series........against a woeful Pakistan.

Chalking up Warner for at least couple of centuries in Australia every summer has to be the biggest overstatement i have seen for a while.

On form Cummins is the bowler that would miss for Boland but obviously captain so he won't go out, don't think Starc bowled that bad but 5 tests I would be rotating them Boland in for Adelaide but it won't happen.

If Marsh fails again surely you consider dropping him , he has come off virtually no cricket at all of late. Play the extra seam bowler if you need to.

making batsmen feel uncomfortable at the crease (without crossing the line) is a part of cricket like it or not. Being overly friendly to the opposition is counter productive

watching the ashes in england last year it was so obvious how friendly we were with the poms..In turn their arrogance and looking down their noses at us was also very evident. Why were we trying to be their friends when they were showing us zero respect..it was pathetic

I didn’t really get that at all. I think the main issue was Lyon getting injured at lords. If that doesn’t happen, we probably eke out another win in the last 3.

Yeah David Warner was chirpy and aggressive and that really ****ed his IPL opportunities.....

IPL owners just want good players*, they don't care about being nice to the Indian team.

*that are not from Pakistan

Gone are the days where we had an Opener like Mark Taylor who would grind it out and also he was a very good leaver of the ball too - knew where his off-stump was. A true Test cricketer, he faced some of the all time great fast bowlers.

Uzzie can do that, but he’s nearly 38 now, so less likely to happen as often.
