....and Paul Ahern another who will be a big stretch at #19, but who seems like an awesome prospect :(. Doesn't seem as quick as some say he is, based on highlights.

Geez, I can't think of anyone else who reminds me more of Scott Camporeale. Even has that similar way of looking up the ground, similar way of evading tackles...heck, even the kicking looks similar, with the ability to pinpoint targets :).

That looks like a "I know something you don't" (sung in a child's voice)

Can't see us skimming over a mid really but who knows.

Surely wouldn't pick another tall forward at pick 19, considering Jones is almost certain to get a gig straight away (going off Rogers' interview)

I'm with you and a lot of the people here, mid at 19 almost certainly.

Any love for Connor Blakely?

Yeah, sure. Don't want an outside mid at all costs. Blakely looks pretty good. Good size. Good kick too, from what I saw in highlights and definitely not the slowest inside mid.

Some chance it will be one of Blakely or Garlett at #19. Clem Smith's disposal and decision making looks to be an issue, so I'd be reluctant at #19.

Really happy with the trading & still having p19& p28
There are still plenty of talented players that can be drafted with those 2 picks... now where are those updated phantom drafts?

Really tough to know who might still be there at 19, but I wonder if we'd consider McKenzie given that we've already acquired KJ and Jones.

Our list is a longer-term project, so Shane Rogers et al might not be as focused on mids as some of us might think.

I suspect, other than if a slider like Ahern is available, McKenzie will be well and truly in contention at #19 (moreso after the Boyd fiasco).

I get the feeling McKenzie hasn't attracted the attention he should be getting.

p.s. just checked his height, which is listed at 196cm. Wasn't he listed at 192cm only about 3 months ago? ...maybe therein lies the answer.

I am still hoping for Duggan or Marchbank at 19 but realise that both are unlikely to still be around. Same goes for Ahern and Pickett. Blakely or De Goey may be realistic midfield options we will look at. Lamb could also be a chance as MM will surely like his versatility and back himself in to get the best out if him. I am also in the Toby Maclean bandwagon with a later pick but this is now unlikely since we lost pick 46.

We desperately need to nail this. Boots, Watson and Lucas as recent first rounders has left us short of upcoming top shelf talent.

You're right that they are hurting us now. But bringing up players who were picked by the previous recruiting department is pretty useless - they have no bearing on what work Rogers and his team have done in preparation for this draft and the great work they've done in the 2012 & 2013 drafts.

I don't see Ahern being the slider in this years draft.
Not basing this on anything other than a gut feeling, but I think Duggan could slide.
I'm pretty keen on his Jets team-mate Corey Ellis at 19. Good accumulator of the footy, and his left foot is pretty deadly.

As has been discussed, Connor Blakely from WA would be a good get there as well.
Going to be an interesting draft now where we have ended up with our picks.

Would love to get Cockatoo or Menadue at 19. Rogers is pretty straight forward and honest, he said we were after two key position players in the trade period and we achieved that, he said it would be nice to add midfield depth and we've done that and he says that we're after midfielders with speed and good skills so I dare say we will try and pick a player of that style @ 19. Cockatoo/ Menadue/ Ahern will all be considered. My pick of this lot is Cockatoo. Mail is though that North are into Cockatoo so they may snap him up before us. I bloody hope not.
