The other way of looking at it is if a scrawny kid is good enough on talent to be rated top 20, imagine how good he'll be in 3 years time!

C Menadue 188cm born Sept 19 pick 19?
N Fyfe 190cm born Sept 18 pick 20.

I know nothing about the talent pool in this draft or whether Connor is that player but having surrendered pick 7, we're looking for a slider.
I'm not a draft watcher either, I just feel a bit burnt by project players (Rogers seems to prefer ready made types too actually).

Just hoping that we pick the best available, with a slight preference for 'inside mid with good awareness' or 'running accumulator with good skills'. Kind of hope we end up with Cockatoo or Viojo-Rainbow just for their names

Shane Sexton - a little more reserved:

Connor Menadue (Western Jets)

Born 19.9.1996, 188cm, 69kg

AFL biography: Excellent athlete that uses his pace and running capacity to run and carry the footy and often breaks the lines. A quiet kid by nature that has the ability to play on a range of opponents regardless of size. Averaged 19.6 disposals per game in his 14 matches for the Western Jets. Consistency is his greatest strength.

Shane Sexton, Western Jets: "Connor's been really impressive, from start to finish this year. He was our best player in the first four or five games and we weren't too sure about him before then but he's been outstanding and he's our best speed and endurance athlete by far. He can run all day. He played some reasonably footy at the national championships bitu he finished off the year really well and he was easily our best player in the elimination final so he's played well under some pressure. He's that type who can run and carry and kick a goal off the half-backline, he's very capable overhead and he'll run a `5-plus beep test and test really well in the sprint. He's a good runner, a nice size and I think he'll be very capable of playing the modern game."

thanks for that, still a very good write up we'd be lucky to get him,

at 188cm tall and 69kg I'm not sure if there has ever been a skinnier afl player

Pick 19 makes it interesting, given the evenness of the 5-20 picks a projected top 10 is a decent chance to slide. Tom Lamb is the one I have my eye on, Marchbank at 193cm tall forward is just too small to play the key fwd role and is behind MCCartin, Wright, Moore, Durdin as the 5th highest rated forward and I hope we avoid, could Ahearn slip? I wouldn't be disappointed with Goddard was regarded a top 5 pick before an average national carnival.

Wouldn't say Menadue is anywhere near a project player, the only thing he needs is a couple of sessions in the gym and he will be fine.

Same with boots, wasn't a project player simply lacked the desire to want to succeed and maybe a little uneducated in the social media scene :)

Sigh ...Excuse my ignorance, but St.Kilda are pretty much now in a re-build stage - are they not?
Which makes me beg the question, Why wouldn't they trade their No.1 Pick for 2 Picks inside the top 10?
I read that they aren't going to give up the pick, but drafting 1 player rather than 2 (or more, from GWS who want Pick 1), especially when the talent pool is so deep this year, seems a bit mad to me. Do they have a gaping great hole in their side that they Particularly want to address?
Surely they need to draft as much talent as possible and 1 player isn't going to address everything...

I guess that's the million dollar weigh up that their list manager will have to think about....

Petracca vs Lever/Laverde..... something like that anyway....

I guess they read BigFooty :)

"St Kilda and Greater Western Sydney appear certain to meet and negotiate on a trade that would send selection No.1 to the Giants in exchange for a package of picks.
The prospect of GWS chasing another quality, experienced player with its bevy of picks shouldn't be ruled out on the final day either. "

I'd take Pickett ahead of Garlett, I'm not at all saying Garlett is soft but Pickett is hard at the contest, the kid will run through a wall for you it seems

This is certainly worth a laugh, good work. I think you're confusing Pickett with Smith. Pickett would attempt to run around the wall.

We need to draft some outside mids, someone with some x factor. First two picks should he that profile. But if Duggan is there I'd take him first. Hopefully Caleb Daniel will be there with 28. Then I'd be looking to take Saad.

If we pick up Saad and two quality skilful mids we will have built a pretty Damn Solid team. If we have some luck with injuries and the younger kids step up we have a top 8 team.

Wonder if McKenzie is in consideration...

He'd be a good pick up, but I suspect St Kilda might throw pick 21 on him. Or 22...

I think we might be able to get Gartlett with #19 and Daniel with #28. That would be better for us, as our spine is much better with Jones and Jaksch coming in.

Good chance we can do some damage next season. We have enough 20-23 year olds to mix with our 26-30s.

I think it was very important that we kept pick 28, and I would pencil it in for Caleb Daniel, many will say we would be reaching but I can't see him lasting through the 40s and of those 20-60 players he's one of the only ones who I think is a nigh on certainty to be AFL quality.
that doesn't mean he's top 50 in the league material but he won't be delisted 6 years into his career like many other recent picks.

#19: Ahern/Lamb/Marchbank/Duggan
#28: Menadue/R. McKenzie/Gartlett
#61 & #65: T.Mclean/D. Mckenzie/C. Daniels

Really want Toby McLean, was hoping we'd have a pick around the 40's for him as i dont think he will slide to 60 but theres a chance
