I want some Wright2Wright action.

But i won't be disappointed with a bit of Steven2McCartin or even Dunstan2Steven2Goddard
dangerfeild2fyfe2parker?

GWS's O'Rourke former No 2 draft pick, out of contract at the end of this year..
I'd prefer him over Gaff, & with plenty of room in our cap we'd get him in the PSD for nothing..

Bidding war may loom among AFL clubs for opportunity-starved guns of 2012 national draft

CLUBS are targeting five prized Victorian youngsters who are coming out of contract at GWS and Sydney and have struggled for regular AFL opportunities.

Jono O'Rourke was selected with pick 2.
High 2012 draft picks Jono O’Rourke, Lachie Plowman, Kristian Jaksch from the Giants along with Swans Dean Towers and Tim Membrey are all drawing mega interest.
Between them they have played just 16 games, an amount topped by seven players taken in the top 10 in the 2012 draft.
None have expressed a desire to walk but they could set off a bidding war in October’s trade period if their base contracts expire.
O’Rourke, a No. 2 pick, said pre-draft his preference was to land at the Western Bulldogs, where mate Michael Talia plays.
The polished midfielder who accelerates from contests has managed just three games and has been frustrated by injuries in his 18 months at the Giants.

Wouldn't mind Gaff, especially if we stick it to Wet Toast at the bargaining table.
Andrew Gaff is a Clinton Young clone, a very handy player but falls short as an A grade mid..
No doubt he would be of great service to our re-build, providing run & spread & a raking left foot..
Today's game requires players to have some appetite for the contested ball, whereas Gaff is strictly an outside player..!
I would like to see Gaff in the R W & B, but prefer to chase O'Rourke first..
We need to target potential A grade mids, who can take us to the ultimate prize & have a taste for inside & outside work in the Jack Steven mould..

Yes too of them except Dean Towers. Still staggered they selected him so high in the draft!

Membrey & ORourke would be Ok but I doubt either would be released for anything less that a 1st round pick? As mentioned if they could go thru to PSD on good $ it would help... but I dont like the club doing that!

With some serious space in our cap, I've got no issue front loading a few contracts if that's going to pick us up O'Rourke, Membrey, Plowman etc..
If we're to take on the GC & GWS in the next 3 or 4 years, we need to utilise the draft & PSD to the maximum now..

We want 1st rounders. Seems likely we'll only get 1 in October.

must use the PSD/Cap Space...How often do you get a "free-hit" at an uncontracted player?

(We don't have the Draft Picks to spare for a trade or any players with Trade Currency. This could be our only chance to snare another 1st rounder)

Would love Mebrey but Trout and the team passed on him 4 times in that draft. Don't think he fits their plans at all.

ORourke in the PSD would be very nice though.

This period, where we are struggling to fulfil the salary cap, really is another opportunity, in some ways our own mini-free-agent hit. We'd be mad not to exploit it for a player like Membrey. Having said that, I noticed he's only 188cm, so a smallish-medium forward. I'm not sure that's structurally what we need.

jones with his turnovers and maister with his dropped marks and missing easy set shots is completely de moralizing to the whole team after a good passage of play, for these reasons they would have to be on shakey ground. not good for moral for the younger players, for established players this is not good enough and needs to be elimated one way or another.

In:

Wright (1)
O'Rourke (PSD)
Maynard (20)
Bampton (25 - Swap: Seb Ross to Richmond)
Urban (38)
McKenzie (56)
Templeton (74) upgrade

...sending an email to Trout as we speak :D
doubt both are their at those picks but ooooo boy if they are

JOR would probably command a first round pick still, but membrey was taken at like pick 47 and is yet to play an afl game. With Sydney having loaded up on tippett and buddy and have a plenty of other good forward line players... Rohan, Jetta, Parker, Reid etc. I think something as late as a 3rd would do it if they were giving a club of his choice

Only just noticed Sam Gilbert will be 32 in 2018 i'm sick of seeing our players play for other teams but if a club offered good overs for Gilbo i'd be surprised if we didn't accept the trade.

Gilbert for Suns first round compo? don't think that would do it
Gilbert + second round pick for Suns first round compo?

Not really sure.

Personally I'd take Gilbert for jaksch and maybe a trade a pics

For everyone falling in love with the idea of nabbing Membrey -

Pick 24 - Nathan Wright
Pick 25 - Spencer White
Pick 40 - Brodie Murdoch
Pick 43 - Josh Saunders
Pick 46 - Tim Membrey.

I would love to see him at the club but he obviously isn't what our list management team are looking for. We had our chance (4 times) and passed him over. Can't see why they would rush out to grab him after 2 years of NEAFL footy...

Fixed.

Going by the 2012 AFL Draft Wiki we could've had any of -

Tim Membrey
Matt Jones
Marty Gleeson
Nick Graham
mark Hutchings
Dean Terlich
Sam Colquhoun
Kane Mitchell
Kyle Martin
Jake Lloyd
Sam Dwyer
Dane Rampe
Jack Frost
Andrew Boston
Brandon Jack

Why did we trade that pick for TDL again? Forward pocket types weren't exactly as issue at the time with Milne, Schneider, Milera, Saad and Minchington on the list. Not to mention Saunders high on our hit list of potentials at pick 40-46. Could've got Sauders with that pick and had one of Membrey or Mason Wood at 43!

Damnit! Why aren't Trout and Pelican getting this perfect all the time!?! Look how easy I'm making it :p
