This is assuming peltch wants to use pick 1, he may want to cash it in for more picks

And it's helpful to know 'In return for pick 1, we want more picks', or 'We want a pick and a player', or 'We want a KPF', or 'We want an established player, but you have to pay most of his salary'.

I really don't understand all this, asking too much or such and such wont get it done for #1.

Focusing on GWS, ball is in their court. Make an offer. If it aint overs you don't get Petracca.

Really its that simple.

We sit back and look at the offers. At days end if it is not in the Saints best interest, we take Petracca or whomever we want @ #1.

So its not up to the Saints, its up to GWS or Sydney, or Adelaide or whomever to come up with a trade.

As I said ball in your court not ours.

I think someone hit it on the head when they pointed out that their pick 4 will net them a player they could have taken at about 10. They don't need talls and apart from Petracca and Brayshaw the rest of the mids are pretty even and could go anywhere. Wright, Mc Cartin, Lever, Moore, Goddard, Durdin etc could all still be there but none really suit their needs. They might be better to sacrifice a current mid and that pick they don't really rate for a condensing manoeuvre by getting Petracca. They are also required to start looking at list trimming so turning two good players into one excellent player would suit them.

You need six props - two to play, two to be injured and two to be suspended.

The other thing is KPFs need time to build muscle - it's incredibly rare for them to be ready to play fresh out of the box.

And you never know what you have until a couple of years later.

TLDR : Yeah, Im fine with the Giants collecting Wright or McCartin, and tossing them into the NEAFL for a couple of years.
You may be, but how about those calling the shots at your footy club? Unless you are them, they're the ones that count here, not any of us that are just speculating from the sidelines.

Im just looking at the way GWS took Patton, and Boyd, and Stewart, and McCarthy, and Lobb to go with Phillips, Downie, Mumford, Giles and Cameron and going 'geeez, we really do like talls'.

Shit, forgot Jaksch and Tomlinson.

That doesn't mean they're going to keep going in that direction though, especially if they feel that it's really time they started winning games, rather than just stockpiling, nor that they really rate whoever is expected to be left by pick 4. ANyway, I don't really care, I'm just putting forward reasons why GWS may be mega-keen on Petracca, if they in fact are.

And if they are not and we don't trade pick #1 - well we get the consolation prize of Petracca, if we want him.

Brayshaw will go at no 2.

GWS can then choose a tall or take a risk with a lower mid.

Ball in GWS court. If they really want Petracca make an overs offer.

if you don't - cool.

I think he's in between both picks to be honest. I'll be slightly disappointed if we had 4 picks in the 1st 22 and came away without one of Jordy or Lever.

Bidding occurs before the trading period unfortunately. I would bid on him at #1 to piss off the Pies.

Derrrr Id just been lecturing a pies mate about that!

Moore would be right in the mix for #1 after his finish to the season so I wouldn't mind throwing a bid in.

The difference is it's a unique set of circumstances at GWS with so many talented players at the one club meaning their managers will be getting ridiculous offers from rival clubs trying to pry them loose.

Point certainly taken, I would not want to lose Billings and a top 5 pick for pick 1. Its a stupid trade for GWS (Shiel & 3 for 1 as example) and not a proposal that would be generated by GWS. Shiel would need to request a trade and be very staunch in his stanch.

Yep the more I think about this the more I really hope they keep Petracca work on extracting uncontracted young players over next 2 years.
:)
and Rookie 4 hungry types like Weller & Templeton

:$Sydney have 6 rookie upgrades playing tomorrow all clubs make mistakes in recruiting and think we have right guys in recruiting dept

So we make a bid for Moore #1

Would be a bonus to

a) Rob Collingwood
b) Make them use pick #8 or even a better one if they get a deal for Beams

Who is better Petracca or Moore?

Enjoying these options.
If we bid for Moore, and Collingwood don't match us, do we have to take him?

Would only be there first live pick (bidding is done before trade week)
Moore isn't worth no. 1
Carlton will bid at pick 6 (maybe even doggies)

Yes. It would be quite awkward, just sitting there having locked up the #1 pick before trade period. Not sure how this thread would go after that . Collingwood would be mad not to match.
Moore's worth more better #8, but I'm not at all convinced he'd be worth #1...

Unless a deal too good to refuse comes along I want Petracca. I don't want GWS offcuts like JOR or Jaksch. Guys that aren't even in their best 22. We give up Petracca only if a gun is involved in the trade, ie Shiel, Treloar, WHE, Smith, Kelly, Boyd, Cameron etc (damn they have some guns!)

Just on Peter Wright, surely he has enough runs on the board from the past 2 years to still be considered a top 4 prospect?

I think I read Rahul saying he had slipped out of the top 5? Has his form really been that terrible that it undoes his last 2 years? Or is it a mixture of form/body issues?

If we end up with #4 & as expected Petracca, McCartin & Brayshaw are taken I would strongly consider Ahern. Goal kicking outside mid with x-factor.

what about:

Joey & 21 - > Essendon's Pick 16 (from PA) & 32/50?

Essendon get the mature, classy on-baller they need (a mature body to help replace Ryder) & Pick 21 to go with Pick 19

We get Pick 16 & another mid draft selection.

I wouldn't send any of our players to that pharmaceutical jab farm let alone a champ of our club.

Doesn't really help us get a 3rd pick inside 21 though so we'd still be looking to trade off another player unless we get one in a deal for pick 1.
