New strategy for me this year and that is a cash cow approach. Tends to be the premiums work into the season with their price dropping a little at the start of the season. Running with rookies galore and trading out as they increase in value and as the premiums have come of a little. Fingers crossed the timing lines up.
I'd still be surprised if Close will get you the price rise you need for him to be fantasy relevant, but to each their own.

I wonder if we'd have seen as much of Close had Paine, McGuane, Staker and Brown had more complete pre-seasons. That worries me from a fantasy perspective - we've got several options and it won't take much to exclude the 2nd year bloke who's still very much learning his trade.

What are Jackson Paine's fantasy prospect for this year?

Delayed start to the year and behind a couple for a spot. However, he could be a handy downgrade target if it takes a couple of months for him to get into the side.

I have Robertson on my mid bench in SC right now. Decent scores in pre-season and cheap. Is he likely to play? I haven't heard much said about him
Just been named for our last pre-season game so he is definitely in the mix. Potentially will get the vest if he is named.

Does that mean CLay Beams should start?

If he gets a game. I'd have thought that there are a few blokes fighting for one or two spots. If Robbo gets the nod, it is one less spot for someone like Beams. Then we apparently have Cutler in the mix too.

Which gets back to the point made earlier - some of these Brisbane rookies look good on paper but there's a fair bit of uncertainty attached to them (Aish aside).

Why Aish, without being rude or smart, would this be a move to get Aish to play senior footy to get him on board? Or is Aish ready to go and get some?

Will be interesting to see if Beams gets picked now. Oh what a headache!!
thanks for the reply.

Ever since he came on board, the club has been saying Aish is ready to play senior footy. Leppa pretty much says it whenever he's interviewed. Aish has been given every opportunity in the pre-season with lots of TOG, particularly in the midfield or on a wing. He's done reasonably well - at least, he looks very comfortable at senior level.

I wasn't one to immediately put Aish into the round 1 side but it appears pretty likely now that he'll get lots of game time early.

In terms of his vest potential, I think it depends on who else gets named. If he plays in the same side as Robbo and Beams, chances are he'll play full games. If he's in the side as the only youngster, it increases the chance he'll get the vest. From the looks of things, at least early on, he'll play alongside one or more of Robertson/Beams/Cutler/Close/Paparone.

Hmmmm sooo much to consider.
Did he run whole games out pretty well?

Thinking of selecting Sammy Mayes as a POD as opposed to the many who are all over Matt Wright as a FWD. Similar price, is he capable of increasing his ave by another 10+ points?

His average game time will certainly increase. Had 22 touches in the practice game today so I expect that would comfortably translate to a 10+ increase in DT or SC.

So yes he's capable. But second year blues hit a lot of players so it might be a more risky pick than Wright.

Hmm, he looks to me as a player that will improve again, bit underrated outside of the club I think, hoping he may have put on a bit more size. I reckon the 2nd year blues types are those who are ready made, ball winning players, who just get figured out way to easily. He's got class and awareness, glad to here he will get more game time. Have had Hanley in my team as my 3rd premium defender, but i'm just wondering if teams are going to put more time into him and how he will cope with that, think their could be others about 60-80k less (David Swallow, my smoky)who could produce similar numbers, no doubting he can score big, but he can put in a sub par score. Fair assesment?
