If Kennedy is nominated at 9 that leaves 8 for them to pick anyone they choose and then use later picks on Kennedy.

All they get out of trading for those couple of picks is 20 points, seems to be more riskier than hoping Kennedy doesn't go top 8

But Hopper is rated the 2nd or 3rd best player of the draft. I think someone will put in a bid in the top 4. That means the pick 8 they have isn't enough to get him, it then takes some of the next pick to get Kennedy who is probably around pick 7 to 10. That's two first round selection points to make up from pick 8 and 20 something.

This is true, and I love the idea of having 2 straight off the bat, I'd just love it more if I didn't rate the Power so much :p
That's ok, we'll be ready to jump up the ladder in 2017.

We either use them for gun kids, or someone like JOM.

This is how our boys have been staying busy. Working out multiple team deals to try and get this done instead of leaking rubbish to agenda pushing journos to try and win friends.
If all parties involved are willing to do a deal like this and Dodoro rejects it. He is a ****ing twat of the highest order.
Stkilda true professionals. #standbysaints.

I don't want this Carlisle trade to end up in the PSD.

Our club has a long and prosperous future ahead of it. We currently are the most professional (diligent, hard working, informed and considered) that I can remember - I suspect ever. We can and will get this trade done and it will be on our terms. Dodoro annoys us all - that is a consequence of the position he is in (i.e. not even holding a weak hand). We want to maintain the reputation we are building as a destination club - that we get deals done. I doubt that we will back down, but I expect we will sweeten the deal slightly to let Dodoro save face and seal the deal.
The obvious sweetener would require Essendon to give us Carlisle, 23 and 41 for pick 5. That means them adding a second round pick to the third they’ve allegedly offered through their leak. No sure thing given their stance thus far but more than reasonable.

That would mean we’d get Carlisle, Freeman and Rice PLUS one of these guys (if Cal Twomey’s latest phantom is accurate) ....
Harry McKay
Josh Dunkley
Riley Bonner
Clayton Oliver
Ryan Clarke
Mitch Hibberd

PLUS one of these guys at a "Lonie-value" pick at 41 ....
Aidyn Johnson
Kieran Lovell
Brayden Fiorini
Brandon White
Daniel Rioli
Sam Skinner

As an absolute final bid, that would be a win ....
.... and Jake would be saved the slow-drip torture of the PSD for committing to us.

With the Port deal, IF Port wants a second rounder back (this year or next), THEN the above deal would be markedly better IMO. Extra second rounder (once you add it all up) and flexibility saved for future trades.

I just really want the deal to be done already and Carlisle to be a saint.
I see port as being the ones to hold up that deal, two first rounders is too much for dixon IMO.
Considering the circumstances dons sending 25 to port should even it all out. But knowing dodoro making the dons give up more is not going to make the process go faster either.
We might be discussing this one for the next four days haha

How can Essendon fans still keep up this BS about the Saints "sitting on their hands" while the Hawks "get things done"??

We have clearly been talking to all of Adelaide, Gold Coast, GWS and now Port about trading picks to help satisfy Essendon's request.

I also agree with that. Keep 10, trade Ports 1st next year for Carlisle. Otherwise we have no real pick in the draft.
I'd then be happy to throw in steak knives. Just gives us that top end. Port had a stinker and all they get is pick 10. Could be much higher next year.

5 and 24 to Port for 10 and their 2016 1st
Ports 2016 1st to the Dons for Carlisle + change
Freeman for our 2016 2nd
10 on Matho

Net result:
In: Carlisle, Freeman, Matho
OUt: 5, 24, 2016 2nd.

If that trade was true then I'd be happy to trade next years second for Freeman, as we'd be set up nicely with 2 first round picks in 2016.
