To me, the biggest problem with Tex is his goalkicking degradation. He has always been lazy on the chase, and, no doubt his marking attempts are more measured than before the injury. However, from memory he was kicking very well, and long, after his recovery, but his goalkicking has regressed badly recently. This is exceedingly bad, since his deadeye goalkicking was his major distinguishing leadership characteristic, providing many morale-boosting and team-lifting moments.
In this respect, now, he is ordinary. Everyone has noticed how he is RS from 30m and that he now sometimes doesn't even make the distance. I find it hard to believe that his knee is now limiting the kicking, since he looks very unflustered and casual in his approach. Is he just getting lazy? Surely a bit of mental toughness and practice should see him return to his inspiring goalkicking form?
definitely laziness and probably feeling some extra pressure as captain as well, he can still kick the huge bomb so I can't blame the knee.

in my opinion he was at his best when he payed the opposition little respect and ran on instinct.

always mind over matter on set shots, need to be able to remove yourself from the context of the game a bit and go through the routine. There's no reason why a goal you kick 99 times out of 100 at training should be a 60% proposition in a game - its like serving in tennis, the guys who are best at it put the ball in when it counts, not the guys who serve 220 but double fault to bring up 2 break points.

I think for Tex he seems to relish the long range ones because they're lower percentage chances, so lower expectation and its a massive lifter when they go through i.e. positive thoughts. When were down early and desperately need a settler from right out in front its a completely different proposition.

I think Tex has had a pretty rough first 2 years as captain with an extremely tumultuous first 12 months especially, yet despite this he's been rated the best captain in the league by his peers. I think he'll start to settle into his footy again next year, he's just appeared a bit on edge, thinking too much about his game when he's a genuine instinctual type player. I think if he can have a good preseason and hit the start of the season injury free, he'll be in for a big year, especially with teams being far more conscious of Jenkins and his capacity to kick big scores if he has a big game.

Tex comes back very early and runs very hard for a lazy person
I'll always remember going to a training session back in early 2014 when Tex was returning from his knee injury and they had Tex and Angus Graham doing 100 metre runs by themselves. Gus did about 2 then walked off. Tex yells at him and says "nah, lets keep going" and Gus just waved him off and went inside. So Tex stayed out there for another 15 minutes or so doing sprints by himself.

Little things like that you see where you know guys who are willing to put in extra work and have those leadership qualities about them.

Sort of the same thing as Lever playing his first game in a Crow uniform in a trial match against Westies and standing on the sideline yelling out instructions and encouragement to the guys on field. Just can see why people talk about him being a Captain one day.

yep, a discussion about his goal kicking is totally related to turning up and training hard.

just ask VB and Mackay, who by rights should be the best players in the league if the training reports over the years are anything to go by.

The club doesn't know what its doing so the posters who seemingly know everything about running an organisation should take over.

We may as well forfeit the season if we can't make that happen.
Not going to get into it with you, but your post sticks out amongst a bunch of posts celebrating the return to training. Why would you bother posting that random post in a non-relevant thread?

We really need the guys we recruited or need in the side to have injury free pre-seasons. Will be crucial for Menzel, Seeds, Hampton and Knight to get off to a good start.

Do we have many who have had off-season surgery and we are expecting a limited pre-season?

Obviously. As we have seen over the years, training form is all important when it comes to team selection. Ability to perform in game is a secondary consideration!
