Correct. It is our fault. So we either sit on our hands and do nothing, or we try and fix it. I'm happy we are trying to fix it.

There is no guarantee next years first will be a top 10 pick.

People are holding pick 9 with reverence it does not deserve. In the last 23 years there have been 3 AA players and 2 premiership players drafted with pick 9. One of those players has both AA & a flag (Cornes). 4 heralded players in 23 years. Forgive me if i'm not going to act like we've just traded Chris Judd for magic beans.

Yep. Now do it for all players picked between #9 and #14 because that is really the opportunity we have given up.

Positives:

I'm stoked we didn't try to plug gaps with rejects and dead wood. We have enough already and 4 new quality recruits will freshen the place up a bit, even if there wasn't a big enough broom put through the spuds we've carried for too long.

Surely Ken can now appreciate how poorly some of the blokes he has put faith in are viewed by the clubs in this league and he now puts a plan in place to phase them out.

If we do have the extra $600 K in the cap I assume we are well placed to make a play on a quality player in the next trade period, albeit without our first pick in the draft as a carrot.

If he was 5 years younger I'd be keen.

Sure Eddy's 27... But he's 194cm/90kg, in his prime and in stellar form (68 goals this season) and would cost you bottom dollar.

You'd rookie a guy like that before u looked at Dawes surely.

Pretty sure Chad Cornes wouldnt mind havin him kickin around in the prison bars next season.

Top expert Nathan Schmook or Schmooksie to his mates has given us a D for our trades.Only consolation is he gave the camries an E. At least we beat them at something this year.

He gave GWS an A. Certainly they did everything they set out to do but before the trade period even started you could have given them an A. Any other team that had let Rhys Palmer go for pick 135 would not have got an A for their trading.

So in the wash, I think we came out pretty much even with not much to talk about. The cows lost big time, lost a serviceable player for a bag of chips and didn't get their man (AGAIN).

Summary, its a win :)

That's fine, We'll just trade the first rounder in 2018 for a 2017 first rounder.

Repeat this forever.

That tactic is used by governments all the time.

My hope from all of this is that our plan next year is to trade out or delist as many list cloggers as possible and target a gun free agent.

That way we still get quality coming in next year without having to sell the future again.

A club like Geelong has traded for him. Why act like your point has been proven? You are wrong. Live with it.
How is he not being at port proving me wrong?

He's only still on an AFL list in any form because he is a contracted player who is clinging onto an undeserved wage like he deserves to do.

An empty list space would or going into a game with 21 players would be better than Aaron Black.

It would be an incredibly embarrassing result trading for aaron black in any form, even the Port Adelaide Magpies would be embarrassed looking at him.

Why would we trade someone who cant play football for someone who cant play football?

HERP DERP, BUT PATIENT MERNTOL, YERR WRERRRNG.

Trading 9 for 14 has more significance than the improvements in the rest of these swaps with Sydney. This draft must run really really really deep, in fact, as deep as &*ck. Perhaps the young guys they rate from from 9 to 14 are all about the same value to the club. I'm a tad uneasy with 9 for 14 in this deal, but having seen what lady luck has to do with drafting players, who knows. Who they think will still be available around the 30 mark seems to matter. Bringing in 4 newbies will achieve their agenda. No quick fix, but this had to be done for the future. A job well done in preparation for the draft, and you've got to be in it to win it. We are, with 4 picks in the first 31. even though we sold next years first born.

Crers really screwed over Gibbs I reckon. Handled the whole situation very poorly, went to the media without talking to Carlton, they were trying to force carltons hand and get unders. Was the wrong strategy all along. If Gibbs had of said to Carlton about his personal issues and asked them to help him get a trade to a SA club. Yes Port may have needed to be involved but ultimately if he really wanted to go to the crows it would have been the best time as we were in no position to trade anyway.

Goodwill may have been a better hand to force than the 'well, we gonna get him anyway, he's moving here. Don't be jerks'

Crers went a very poor route with this trade. Crers ambassadors think that Gibbs is pissed with Carlton, but I reckon he would be equally pissed with the way the crers went about this. ****ed him over big time.

So I'm hearing that Gibbs and his former manager (Reid) had been aware of his desire to return for a fair chunk of the year and elected to use this strategy to try and catch Carlton off guard. Carlton got wind of it and from that point on we're pretty pissed off and always going to play hard ball.

As I said earlier - Reid is a dud list manager, he may have been ok as a player manager, but that's a hell of an easier job.

It's worse than that. Reid was Gibbs' manager the last time there was negotiations with Carlton and as such negotiated a heavily front ended contract that Gibbs wanted to cut and run from this year when it moved into more average wage territory.

Basically it was collusion between Reid, Gibbs and Adelaide to try and stitch up Carlton. With the money grubbing Gibbs not falling far at all from the tree.

It's safe to say that Carlton will never deal with Adelaide again after they pulled this stunt.

Woh!

The crows look down their noses at every other club at all times, it's awesome because they honestly think the world revolves around them but absolutely no one respects them. Shitful organisation with a history of dodgy shit.

Long may they stay that way. Admiration of the nation and respected by their foes and all that.
