Analysis 2016 AFL Trade Week Thread

I'm not sure why people are expecting Port to be active in trade period.

We are expecting some action because we were told Port would be active in restructuring our list. Over the past weeks the Coach made several statements that suggest we had no option but to be active during trade week.

At his Presser after the Melbourne game Hinkley said,

“You’ve got to be brave with your list management. They are the things we’ve talked about.

“It’s going to be a very active list management season and we will be a part of that.”

At his post match presser after the Gold Coast game Ken Hinkley said.

"We need to go to the draft and we will go to the draft and find some young players, because we see some future in the young ones we've played this year too."

As it stands we have picks 9, 45, 63 and 81 in the national draft and unless we can improve on those the prospect of improving our list via the draft as Ken suggests appears remote. We desperately need a second round pick or two and the only way we will get those is through the trade period.

As Ken Oath has correctly pointed out Chris Davies also made comments about Port being active in trade week.

No one is expecting us to trade in an elite midfielder but a couple of deals that net us a second and a third round are needed.

Granted but there's 7 days to go, only 3 trades have been done so far and our trades aren't a high priority for opposition clubs. We need to sit tight.

Hahaha I think it's official now.

As far as this board is concerned Chris Davies is George Costanza.

I didn't know ah Chee was contracted for 2017

Ild keep him unless suns offer a top 30 pick. People are nuts of they think that pick 44+ in this draft is anything other than a wild stab in the dark.
If pick 44 is a stab in the dark, keeping Ah Chee is a brightly lit stab with a plastic spoon

I mean, you guys do realise Ah Chee himself was pick #45, yeah?

At the moment the only teams with finalised trade or free agent deals are Fremantle, Hawthorn, Sydney, GWS, Collingwood and Brisbane. North Melbourne and Richmond have not gained anything, they've just lost a free agent. There has been talk of St Kilda getting Jack Steele from GWS and Koby Stevens from the Western Bulldogs but this is speculation. And there has been an Ah Chee to GC rumour and as we know the Bryce Gibbs to Adelaide and Tom Rockliff to Collingwood or Adelaide rumours. There is the strong likelihood of Sam Mitchell to West Coast and Vardy has also been linked with them.
There hasn't really been anything definite on the Prestia front yet, most of the news about O'Meara says nothing more than Hawks are trying to get him and it seems to have been accepted Hanley will move but there is nothing to say what for. Although Gold Coast have a number of picks and Brisbane should be able to be tempted.

Barrett seriously has no idea.
He's enjoying a nice trade radio segment on our list where he can dispel as much inaccurate dribble about us as he likes.

The good thing is that in trade week most of his callers are Victorian and are interested in their teams, so the major amount of drivel from him is about other teams.

The Hawks know how to get it done.

A lot easier when high end talent tell their club "I want to go to Hawthorn"

Don't forget that is exactly the situation we were in the last two years.

I would like to see Hawks fail to get O'Meara. Also Rucci states Carlton are labelling Crows push for Gibbs as disgusting and unethical.

Steven trigg calling someone unethical and at the crows as well lmfao
