Above all, Zak Jones must keep his place.
Laidler also should stay, he's dependable.

Mills - can't see him being fit
Aliir - can't see him being fit

McVeigh - they'll take the risk - Marsh will be the unlucky one

I refuse to believe our two best debutants this year won't be part of our grand final side

Talked about McVeigh on the podcast about being our best user going inside 50. That's fair enough but he'll struggle to do anything defensively with the pace of the game and probably strain his calf again.

I still want to see Mills & Aliir get back up and even though Laidler hasn't done much wrong, I can't see Marsh being dropped.

Rampe goes to Stringer, no doubt about it. Last time we played them it was Grundy on Minson/Roughead and Rampe on Redpath, forcing Mills onto Stringer. Grundy goes to Boyd this time, Rampe to Stringer and Laidler/Marsh to Cordy (if he plays), that's assuming Allir doesn't get up.

I'm nervous because losing is unthinkable but I've got that winning vibe. Everyone loses their heads all week over the Dogs making it through while Sydney quietly go about their business and then flog the Dogs by six goals and we are returned to regular scheduled programming.
With 05, 06 and 12, Sydney have given all AFL fans three of the most exciting grand finals of all time. We have more than done our bit.

We have earned the right to deliver the most boringly one-sided affair in the game's history.

Bugger exciting grand finals. I want the game over by quarter time. Gotta keep up that Swans seven goal first quarter average.

We have to be very smart and ruthless with our match committee decisions this week, can't let any sentiment creep in and overrule common sense or it could cost us a flag.

Allir - has the type of injury where you can either run or you can't, so there isn't as much risk picking him if he passes a fitness test

The difficult ones who we need to really think about are the 2 coming off muscle, injuries. The risk is much higher and if they're not fully training now there has to be serious doubts, if they cannot be absolutely 100% confident they can last a game should do the team thing and not even put their hands up for selection.
Mills has also played 1 half of football in 5 weeks (missed the Richmond game) and coming off a hamstring in 21 days is very risky.
McVeigh - Similar soft tissue problem, needs to be tested intensively during the week. His best asset, his ball use, has been ordinary lately too....and when that drops off, his tackle pressure and chasing isn't good enough to compensate. He's captain so he probably gets to make his own call and if he does he had better play a lot better than in his last GF.

While the other name being thrown around in the media is Richards. Love the guy and would be great for him to go out and a high, but unfortunately, if he plays he's almost a liability..not great in the NEAFL GF, won't have the pace, struggles to keep his feet nowadays and isn't suited for a bulldogs forward line match up anyway, besides Boyd they're all mobile 3rd talls who are better suited to Marsh/Laidler, who are better one on one players these days (and only 3cm shorter anyway), so even if Allir doesn't come up he should't play and we should go with the smaller back-line.

As much as I'd want Mills in the 22, I'd rather (if Aliir is fit) go in unchanged and play it safe..... but I don't think that will happen. McVeigh will play, almost certainly for one of Laidler or Marsh. Lailder the better intercept marker, which will be important this week, but Marsh much quicker and maybe more suited to a match up in their forward line. Tough call coming up.

Even if though they shouldn't announce anything publicly until the teams, I hope they make very early decisions to settle down those fringe players so they can fully focus on the job at hand ~ ala Mitch Morton in 2012. No every chance, up till the last minute on the day decisions. Don't keep any players stressing past the Wednesday session.
