Why didn't we offer Jarrad Waite a two year contract, that's all he wanted. Now he's playing for North in the best form he's ever been??? Could have been invaluable in teaching our forwards their craft. Charlie would surely have benefitted. Why,Why,Why?
Because if we had of given him a two year contract he would have checked out, decked someone and pulled a hammy and he would have played 8 games over two years.

Stringer's career does seem to draw comparisons with Ablett Snr, who played the first half of his career further up the ground/up the wing etc.

Although I agree Stringer should be labelled a forward, I can see why The Sheik would have him marked as a midfielder, although I'd prefer to have The Italian Stallion, Bontempeli, assisting Cripps in the mldfield than The Package (hypothetically speaking)

You can just add all the North games to the Eagles, Crows, and now Melb. games that I now cringingly force myself watch all our ex's kick more goals
collectively (and sometimes singularly) than we do each week.

I know there were extending but maybe justifiable circumstances for each of their departures ... but I am hoping like hell that as List Manager, SOS is not so cavalier in letting players go as were his predecessors, especially when we have struggled in the past to kick big scores.

I have a feeling that the only thing SOS would be concerned about in regards to Waite, Betts, Garlett and Robinson is the low return that we took back for the lot of them. Even if they were still on the list when he took charge none of them were going to be a part of the team that SOS and co are building to a premiership contending standard.

Yes, losing Kennedy still stings but we got a Brownlow out of Judd and the Eagles haven't gotten a premiership just yet.

The Garlett one still hurts me the most. The funny thing about the Judd trade is if we had given them picks 1 and 3 like they wanted we would probably still have both Jacobs and Kennedy.

For sure we'd be better off , but it would've taken Nostradamus like foresight to see that, best not to think about such things.

Imo it is all about the amount of spring these shorter mobile forwards have. Some players just cant jump eg Kreuzer so he plays short for his height. Players like springer ablett rewhaldt play taller than their height due to their spring. Nick has his elite fitness that adds to the spring. Springer and ablett have that strong lower body that alows them to out body their opponent.

I got to admit it is absolutely killing me watching Waite, Betts, Garlett, Kennedy, (plus Robinson, Jacobs, Henderson, Laidler, Yarran) running around and dominating for other teams. I want to roll forward 5 years so I don't have to see these guys out there basically mocking us and our bad list management decisions (yes, for a raft of reasons). Can we just start the 2020 season already? :'(

Waite has done this right throughout his career. Played good footy when he comes out of contract. He's 33 and might have 1 more good year of footy in him. We were right in offering him a 1 year deal.

Oh like Menzel... who was deemed "lazy"...
Yeah just like the lazy Waite and Garlett hey.......

Angus Brayshaw squeezed out of the Demons team for Petracca, any chance Brayshaw might be looking for a guaranteed spot in the midfield.
One of their mids will get squeezed out over the next couple of years for sure. Not sure it will be Brayshaw though.

Cant fit them all in and this is the 2nd time he has been dropped this year.. Like anyone he will be starting to feel a bit insecure about his position in the team. Especially with Petracca and Oliver now seen to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Would cost a lot, say we trade down pick 2 for 2 of GWS 1st round picks, we give one and our 2017 2nd round pick and i reckon that would be a win. The key is getting in his ear early and making him want to leave..

There is no way Melbourne will trade Bradshaw under any circumstances, I suspect its probably a case of The Dees 'managing/resting' him (he suffered a fairly serious injury in the preseason)

Only young Dees mid type that might be squeezed out is Salem, and I'm not all that impressed with him

I would be keen on trying to trade for Dean Kent though ..

Vince will probably be next to go from their core midfield group. He's still playing good football at the moment but at 30 you'd expect him to make way in the next couple of years.

Time will tell but I see no reason why they can't keep their core group of young midfielders together. Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Tyson and Petracca is a seriously promising group who can grow together over the next decade.

lol Brayshaw isnt getting squeezed out....there is clearly a spot for him in Melbourne's midfield.

He's coming back from an injury so being managed and his form maybe not great yet.
They rested Oliver last week.

He has no reason to feel insecure about his position in the team.

Dean Kent has been quite impressive the last few weeks. Looks a goer and a nice kick at goal.
Just hit career best form though so and contributing to the Demons' rise so cant see any of Melbournes good players leaving to be honest now that the team is finally playing good footy

Freo's Freefall down the ladder is a big boost for their chances to retain Jesse Hogan..

It seems Norths medical staff have been able to consistently get him on the track, something he could never do with us. While i agree we should have offered him 2, it was a calculated risk at the time. Unfortunately for us hes playing the best footy of his career, and being the player we all thought he would be if he realised his potential. Its just a shame it is when hes 33 and playing for another club. He looks like he could go on for another few years, hasnt lost that spring in his step at all.
Maybe the biggest problem thats plagued Carlton for years keeping our players fit and on the ground .

Could also be a good way to make the loss more palatable to Melbourne. Freo hands over pick 1 and something. Melbourne draft Battle and have a gun key forward replacement.

There is no way that Freo are as bad as what they're playing so far. I smell a rat.
